"I'm from Texas and nothing can compare to Texas BBQ! Everyone has their own preferences though, so don't judge me. I wanted to try McClard's since I was in Hot Springs, as it has a great history and is a favorite among locals and visitors. The staff was very friendly and attentive, but the food was just okay. The sliced beef tasted like pot roast with BBQ sauce poured on top, the beans were different and tasted more like chili beans, which I wasn't a fan of. The ribs were tough and chewy, but the sausage was good. I did enjoy the potato salad and the side of fries with dry seasoning sprinkled on top was delicious. I even bought the dry seasoning to take home, which was the best part. The BBQ sauce was okay, but not my favorite. However, I thought the loaded fries were the best dish in my opinion, and if the cheese was melted on top, it would have been perfect."

Pretty good BBQ, good service with a few beer options as well. The loaded fries were huge. Easy in and out not too busy. Cool mural in parking lot.

Good smoked flavored meat. The ribs were great and the chopped pork was good. Nice portions. White cheddar mac cheese. Yes, you gotta have a pint to go.

Been eating here since 1996 and without a doubt, it?s my favorite barbecue restaurant in Arkansas. The food is amazing and there?s nothing else quite like McClard?s BBQ sauce! They are best known for their tamale spread and ribs and fries platter, but you can?t go wrong with anything on the menu! View menu

Some of the best BBQ in the state. The plates are always fulfilled with some great helpings. You can really fill up your belly here with some great tamales. Great for couples or small groups. Parking is is easy in and out. Quality pick ups are welcome to. Staff is aware and awesome in keeping your attendance welcome.

McClard's offers delicious BBQ and excellent service. I ordered the meat sampler, which allowed me to choose four meats. I tried ribs, sausage, beef, and pork, with homemade French fries and coleslaw as my sides. My top picks were the sausage and ribs, while the beef and pork were a bit thick and dry. The sides were tasty, especially the coleslaw.

Having grown up eating at this restaurant in Hot Springs, I can confidently say that it is excellent. The food and service have remained top-notch, even through changes in ownership. The atmosphere is a perfect mix of locals and tourists, with a friendly vibe that exudes Southern hospitality. My favorite dish is the tamale spread, and a little tip I've been using since I was a child is to order a side of slaw and a side of white bread to make tamale spread sandwiches. It may sound strange, but trust me, it works perfectly. View menu

While they have bbq plates, with beef pork and sausage, we decided to try what some say is the best thing on the menu. The tamale spread. It's tamales with fritos, onions, tomatoes and chopped beef with bbq sauce and probably other ingredients that I have forgotten about. It took several bites before we actually found the tamales. Overall it was pretty good. They also have loaded fries, that looked really good, that we took a picture of but didn't try. Another restaurant that has been here for decades that keeps doing it right. Friendly people. Would definitely go back. Can't really rate it as a bbq restaurant though.

During a trip to Hot Springs with my daughter, she requested BBQ for lunch. I don't usually eat BBQ, but I decided to give McClard's a try. Tucked away in a humble building, this restaurant has the most hometown feel I've experienced in a while. The staff were friendly and welcoming to travelers. I ordered the chipped pork sandwich, tamales, and sausage. The BBQ sauce was flavorful with a hint of spice, very tasty. The tamales were not traditional tamales, more like a tamale spread. While the flavor was good, it could have been better. I suggest trying something else if you can. The sausage was a generous portion and quite delicious. Overall, we left very satisfied.

"Overall our experience was a 5 star evening. The food was amazing, and the waiter was exceptional. The variety of menu items was great and service was fast but not in a rushed atmosphere. Would definitely recommend and look forward to visiting when we return to Hot Springs. We had two issues that made it difficult to give a 5 star overall rating. We had reservations at 6pm for 2 and were seated at a small table next to another four topper. There were two lovely booths unoccupied across from us and when asked about them were told they were being held for 7pm reservations. They offered to put us upstairs, which we did, and it was a bar atmosphere with a line of very bright lights shining above us. As mentioned, the food and wait service was amazing but it put a bit of a damper on the evening, especially since we had made reservations. At $250 for two people, it would seem a reservation would allow for a nicer table. Also, at 6pm, they were out of several of their specials which is hard to understand at such an early time on a Friday evening. There was an incredible outdoor bar area that we didn't know existed and would loved to have had a drink in before dinner. Fireplace, great atmosphere, clear plastic on outdoor walls to maintain heat but allow for an outdoor experience, all the pluses! Again, loved our evening, just would have been perfect had not these two items come up."

"This was our first visit to Hot Springs, and while heading home, we decided to have lunch (or breakfast, really) at The Pancake Shop. I was initially concerned about the prices since the pancakes are ordered à la carte. However, when our food arrived, I was blown away by the massive homemade sausage patties and pancakes that covered the entire plate! Our server suggested the best way to enjoy the pancakes: cut a hole in the center, fill it with whipped butter, and then drizzle syrup all over. She was spot on! The pancakes were delicious, and I couldn't even finish mine—a rarity for me. My husband and I both opted for the cheese grits, and I have to say, I’m quite picky about grits. Most places just don’t make them well, but these cheese grits were by far the best I've ever had, even better than my own. My husband echoed my thoughts on the grits. Our two teenage boys wanted to try some and kept asking for more of OUR grits! Everything we had was amazing. After we placed our order, there was a bit of a wait, but while enjoying our meal, we understood why. The food is made from scratch, and that little wait is absolutely worthwhile. As for the pricing, the meals here are worth every penny. We left discussing how our experience at The Pancake Shop was the perfect conclusion to our trip to Hot Springs. Well done, everyone! You completely satisfied our family of five, and we will definitely return on our next visit to Hot Springs."
