On The Border Mexican Grill Cantina

The cheese dip was rich and delicious, but unfortunately, there was a mistake with my order. The taco I got contained hardly a spoonful of meat and only a tiny bit of cheese—basically, it was just a bowl!

Although we liked the drinks and appetizers, our experience was spoiled by our server, Josh. He appeared to be either intoxicated or impaired, causing significant delays in delivering our orders and leaving our frozen drinks nearly melted. Furthermore, he failed to check in on us to see if we needed anything else. Because of his slow service, we ultimately skipped our main entrees.

The food at On The Border was outstanding; the chefs skillfully use the perfect blend of spices to create dishes that are both memorable and satisfying. They also offer draft beer—after all, who doesn't love a cold beer? I highly recommend this restaurant if you're looking for excellent food at reasonable prices, along with friendly and professional service that comes with sincere smiles. I visited this restaurant on a Saturday night, expecting a long wait, but we were seated in just three minutes. The spacious establishment features a bar, along with plenty of tables and booths. Shortly after being seated, we were served chips and salsa. Our waitress was incredibly efficient, friendly, and quick—too bad I didn't catch her name. Our food arrived in about 8 to 10 minutes, which was impressively fast, and everything tasted great. Overall, it's a fantastic restaurant!

Initially, the service was excellent, but then our server had to step out to pick up a friend and mentioned that a coworker would come to assist us. Unfortunately, that never occurred. We felt entirely overlooked and had to signal the bartender to request our check. No one bothered to check in with us to see if we needed anything, leaving me uncertain if it was a communication breakdown or just a complete oversight. The food was quite delicious, particularly after being reheated. However, I have to deduct a star because several dishes ordered by our group arrived cold or only lukewarm, and quickly cooled down again. One dish was even served straight from the fridge. Once they reheated our food, it was excellent. Unfortunately, I must remove another star due to the restaurant’s cleanliness. It was very dirty, with food and trash scattered around, and plenty of garbage under the tables. The bathroom condition was absolutely appalling; I didn’t even want to step on the floor.

This was my husband's and my first visit to this restaurant, and we were quite disappointed, especially considering it was nearly empty. After being seated, we waited 10 minutes for our menus. The service was incredibly slow. Our waitress seemed disorganized, bringing items at different intervals. When our food finally arrived, it was only lukewarm. We were hesitant to ask for anything, as even simple requests, like silverware before our meal or a tea refill, took ages. Overall, it was probably the worst service we have ever experienced in a restaurant. The only reason I’m giving it 2 stars is because the food was good.
