"This place used to be fantastic, but for the past two or three years, I've encountered terrible service each time I've visited, likely due to a lack of staff. Today, I decided to give it another try. However, the hostess, Sophia, appeared to have a mix-up and forgot to call us when our turn came up. Instead of the 25 minutes I was promised, I ended up waiting nearly an hour. When I inquired about the delay, she apologized and said she had mistaken me for someone else. You take down a name and phone number and maintain a list to call the next person as tables become available—it's not complicated. It’s hard to believe there was a case of mistaken identity; it felt more like you didn’t want to give me the table for some reason. After this experience, I won't be returning."

Update: The restaurant reached out to me and said they will be sending coupons for the overcharge, though I haven't received them yet.

Our waiter was Ignacio and he was very friendly and came back several times to check. Only ordered drinks and appetizers, food is always excellent there. View menu

The food is excellent, and the service is outstanding. While some may argue that it doesn't represent authentic Mexican cuisine, they wouldn't be wrong. However, everything is top-notch quality and incredibly delicious.

We showed up to the restaurant about 30 mins before close and were still greeted in a hospital manner. We enjoyed great drinks and food and had the whole place to ourselves! It was a great time and I’d definitely return again.

This restaurant is great, but Audrey is the reason I return! You can find margaritas anywhere, but it's rare to encounter someone as engaging and attentive as she is. Thank you for your wonderful hospitality. You truly deserve a loyal customer! View menu

Alex did a great job serving us, even as a larger group of 8. He was attentive to drink and food needs, and knew exactly who ordered what. We had a wonderful time and quick service. One of our favorite places to eat out around Woodland Mall.Parking: Because it's next to the mall, parking can be a little tricky sometimes, but we've never had to walk more than a couple hundred feet across the parking lot. It definitely can feel like farther than it is. Handicap parking does always seem to have a spot or two, and is close to the entrance.

My family visited this restaurant for the first time for dinner, and we had a wonderful experience. Our waiter was an older gentleman who was very friendly and did an excellent job. We happened to go on a Monday night, which featured endless enchiladas. I ordered them, and I thought the refried beans were really delicious, and I enjoyed the rice as well. I liked the chicken enchiladas, but I wasn't a fan of the sauce on the beef enchiladas. Other than that, the food was quite good overall. My son ordered the nachos from the children's menu, and he really enjoyed them too. I would definitely recommend giving this place a try!

"Simple fish gets a 2 star. Sadly. I really wanted to like it! TL;DR This should be a TAKEOUT ONLY kind of place. DO NOT DINE IN! The food is pretty decent Like 3 4 stars but the service was a horrible 1 star. My husband and I went on a Wednesday night (not a particularly busy night . There was only one guy working the whole restaurant. He had to be host and waiter! And he was not the kind of kid who was ready for a front facing job. He was painfully shy, didn't give us menus or utensils when he sat us, took our drink order after we'd been sitting for 20 minutes and when he did I gave him our full order. It was clear he was overwhelmed and that we probably wouldn't see him again for a while! It was frustrating for everyone. Our table wasn't the only one having to get up to get their utensils and napkins. The poor guy seemed like he was just trying to make it through the night. But that also meant as a diner we were ignored and our soup was cold when it finally came out. Also, the ambiance was stressful. The music playing was too quiet and soft so you could hear everyone's conversations. It felt like eating dinner at a library or spa. It just made the waiter's nervousness that much more awkward. Basically, I would only go back if doing takeout. But honestly, I'm not going to go back. There are too many places in Grand Rapids that actually care about their customers and offer a good experience with better sushi to go back to Simple Fish. TO THE OWNER: If you are too short staffed to deliver a good dining experience then you need to think of alternatives (ie, closed dining and takeout only or changing the style to fast casual patrons serve themselves."
