"The bartender truly enhanced our experience, adding to the already exceptional food. Unfortunately, the fryer was out of service, but since it was our last night in town, we opted for sautéed appetizers, which were absolutely exquisite! Even though the owner wasn't in the kitchen that evening, the chefs delivered a fantastic performance. I'm usually not a fan of kale, but the salad that came with our appetizers was outstanding (and yes, it was kale!). And then there was dessert—wow! The two-layer lemon blueberry cake with Italian cream cheese was simply stunning. I run a salon in Illinois, and I genuinely believe I could gather a busload of clients just to bring them here for a meal!"

You won't believe what a gem this restaurant is! The menu primarily highlights seafood and beef for the main courses, which usually come with similar side dishes, yet everything is exceptional. The chef even took the time to come out and chat with us for a while. It's truly a unique dining experience—definitely worth a visit!

Don't be put off by the look of the place. It was exceptional! We're camping for the weekend and asked the campground owner for a recommendation, and we were pleasantly surprised! This is definitely not what I anticipated from a small town in northern Wisconsin, but I would happily make the trip again just to eat here! Food: 5/5 Service: 5/5 Atmosphere: 5/5 View menu

We discovered Son of Skaliwags on a Friday night and had such a great experience that we chose to return for dinner on Saturday! It was just as delightful as our first visit. Upon our arrival, Marshall welcomed us back with a warm greeting, which we truly appreciated! We ordered drinks and only had to wait about 15 minutes for our table. Once seated, our waitress Melissa was exceptional. She frequently checked on our drink refills, assisted us in splitting the bill, and inquired about our meal enjoyment when they arrived. She was friendly, attentive, and really engaged with us. We will definitely return the next time we’re in the area.

"We were at Fishtales on August 18. Although understaffed, the bartender did well with our large table of 10. My husband and I ordered the boom boom shrimp, shark bites and a flatbread. We were very pleased with the food that evening. Some others in our party did not have the same experience, however, my husband and I were pleased with ours. We decided to come back on Saturday as the town has limited options. Our experience on Saturday was something non of us have experienced. We, again, were a large group so we know we need patience to get drinks and food etc however, after placing our food order and waiting an hour and a half we tracked down a waiter to ask when our food was coming out as several groups who came in after us had all been served. The waiter informed us that the cook had missed our ticket but they were working on it right away. After another 20 mins and more people getting their food and nothing coming out to us we decided we needed to cancel our food order and settle up on our drinks as we had another commitment to get to and couldn’t wait any longer for the food. As my husband and I were talking to a waitress to figure out our drink bill, a “manager” came out, took our bills and crinkled them up telling us we needed more patience and to just leave and go to another establishment in town. Our entire table had plenty of patience but after nearly 2 hours enough was enough. After reading all the responses from the owner/manager to their reviews one can clearly tell the establishment needs a lot of help with customer service. It is a disappointment to not be able to recommend this place as the food was good but the customer service is completely out of hand. Best of luck to you guys if you continue with that type of customer service."
