"Within its classification. Surf Dog is the best on Topsail Island. Husband wife team own and operate the restaurant which has become a favorite for both locals tourists. They have a varied menu from hot dog to steaks, in a casual and friendly service. Their potato chips are home and excellent. I prefer my chips floppy or cooked lightly and during my last visit mychips were cooked a bit more than normal. One of the owners asked if my chips were OK I said they were fine. He knew theywere overcooked and said he was training a new chef so they would be re-cooked. They strive for a high level of customerservice. Good deck for outside dining."

"We have been coming to the Topsail/Surf City area for over 10 years and neither of us had ever eaten here until this weekend (I think we always thought they only served ice cream). We went on the recommendation of the sales associate at Bert's and we were VERY impressed! The decor was very kitschy and very retro ... lots of cool stuff. The food was DELICIOUS! We both had hamburgers and quite honestly this was probably one of the best burgers I've had in a long time. Fries were hot and very good. Service was fast! HIGHLY recommend. We will be back the next time we visit Surf City."

"I returned today and was quite disappointed. We had to wait 30 minutes for an omelette, and several items listed on the website were no longer available. The manager hastily explained that the owner doesn’t update the website, which is strange given the restaurant's location in a bustling tourist area. However, the staff kindly offered to recreate the item for us, although it was at a much higher price than what was originally listed on the menu. We probably should have gone with Sunrise Bagels or made the drive to Bagel Bakery instead. As a former New Yorker, I always feel a bit uneasy when a southern restaurant claims to offer New York-style food, but this place comes close. They serve Boar's Head meats, which is a significant plus. My husband ordered a ham and cheese sandwich, while I had the chicken parmesan. We will definitely be back!"

"Next, we tried six fresh oysters from the always-changing menu. They were absolutely delicious and paired nicely with a variety of hot sauces. Following that, we sampled the Oyster Sampler, which included a selection of 16 oysters: raw, steamed, and grilled. While all were good, I personally enjoyed the grilled ones the most. Finally, we indulged in the lobster dinner, which is only available on Fridays. It came with coleslaw and corn on the cob. Our waitress, Tricia, was fantastic! She promptly served our food and even brought water for our dogs. Overall, it was a wonderful experience, and I would highly recommend this restaurant in Surf City!"

"Well we finally made it over to Lowtide Steakhouse to check out what nearly everyone is raving about. First off, we were greeted by a very friendly staff and seated in the bar area. I probably would have preferred the dining area, but most of the tables there were not bused yet, we showed up for late lunch so it’s understandable. Next, our friendly server/bartender took our order flawlessly and she was well versed. Excellent! Our food was delivered in short order with an appropriate wait time and hot. I highly recommend the steaks, with baked potato and salad bar. Just perfect. Our visit left us with a very favorable impression and we will likely return as often as we can from Jacksonville. Just one recommendation, not a showstopper. Larger plates for the steaks and trimmings would be great. Needed more room to navigate my steak lunch. Great place, obviously a local favorite as well.Parking: If you arrive at peak times, parking close by may be limited due to it’s size and it’s shared with other businesses."
