"This was a disaster. The first thing that happened was the waitress dropped the drink tray pouring ice cold water down my back and breaking glasses on the floor behind me. It took a long time to get that all cleaned up and my chair dried out. She kept apologizing and I kept telling her it was ok. It was just an accident and not to worry, but she kept on apologizing to the point that it became awkward for me to keep telling her it was ok. Unfortunately, my clothes were still not dry for hours. Next, there was no food delivered to our table for well over an hour. The waitress said they were waiting on one more piece of fish. ? When the food finally came out, I didn’t get anything. After waiting until everyone else at our table was almost through eating, the waitress finally came back and informed me they didn’t have what I ordered. Seriously? It took an hour and a half to figure that out? She said she had called the owner and was waiting on a response from him but did I want something else in the meantime. After another wait, the owner apparently arrived and sent the waitress back to our table to tell us that my husband and I wouldn’t have to pay for our meal. What meal? The others at the table were given a 15% discount on their meals as well. Why didn’t the owner come to our table himself instead of sending the poor waitress back to apologize for the millionth time? I might add that there was only one other table occupied at the restaurant so not exactly rush hour. There was no excuse for the lack of food or service and we will certainly never go back."

WOW!!! Our first time there and they knocked it out of the park! 100% pleased and impressed! My wife got the Big Coo Mac and Cheese and I got the Patty melt!

Today my husband had the fish and chips and I had the blt. The food was plentiful, good, is there were no complaints to be had. I have always been REALLY happy with this establishment.

Whew chile,the food was not good at all. I ordered the fried green tomatoes and by no means do I suggest ordering them. They were not seasoned and the coating did not stay on. Very disappointed . I ordered a burger, because no one can mess up a burger. Well, go to Highlander they will. Absolute worst burger I have ever had! I also had the fried pickles. Yuck yuck yuck! I won't be back. It seems as if their food and service have gone down.

As a side note, I was appalled to learn that they had a rat and roach infestation and closed down just days after my order. Thank goodness they shut down! If a restaurant has such serious issues, it should temporarily close to resolve them instead of serving food made in unsanitary conditions. I’m relieved to hear about the permanent closure; with owners prioritizing profits over safety and integrity, they clearly were not capable of running a business like this. What a shame! View menu

We visited this restaurant around 2 PM on a Wednesday and had a wonderful experience! The service was perfect, and the food was outstanding. It was our first time here, and our group is eager to return. I highly recommend the Chicken Waffles, but be sure to arrive hungry as it's quite a large portion for one person! The Highlander Pie is also fantastic, and there's plenty to share. Don't miss out on the bacon and egg burger with fries either! Our waitress, Tiffany C., was exceptional and very attentive. If you're in the area, we highly recommend this place!

Haven't been to Highlander in a few years and I wish I'd been back sooner. 1st of all our server MiMi was OUTSTANDING. Our tea was always full and she checked on us several times but not to much to be Interruptive of our meal. There was 4 in our party and everyone's meals were 5 star. The cheese log appetizer was by far the best ive had in Texas!!! My wife had the chicken fried chicken. I did try it and it was tender and incredibly juicy. It's not the standard chicken fried but rather deep fried breast and was simply amazing. I had the fish and chips and they were absolutely incredible. The tarter sauce was insanely good.
