The Orchard - Menu

We come eat here once a year while we are in Cashiers. Great food. They do alot of fresh local dishes most of which are fantastic. The appetizers are on the very small side, but the main courses are very filling. Service is spot on both the server and the bartender visit the table and introduce themselves. They are always knowledgeable and helpful. Do make a reservation as they tend to fill up. Sometimes if you're lucky the local black bear will visit the field by the restaurant.

Service was great. On request, our server made recommendations that were spot on. Drinks were great and food was delicious and hot. I got the pork tenderloin and it was so good along with everything else on the plate. A few homemade onion rings were alight crispy and flavorful addition. My husband got the pecan crusted trout and it was equally delicious. They serve this with ahomemade tarter sauce on top that?s quite good but ask for it on the side if you want the full flavor of an amazing fish. Allaround a great meal!

I wish I could give all five stars, but just not. We immediately sat for our reservation. The waiter was great, took our order and drinks and appetizers at a good pace. But we sat for an hour for our ducks. When the waiter finally came by, he had no reason why we were late. Other tables literally came in after us, ordered, ate, paid their bill and left while waiting for our meals. No visit from the manager, never given a reason. That means the food was great when it finally arrived. The restaurant is beautiful, so disappointing to have such bad service from a premium restaurant and not even a reason to be given. View menu

However, we then sat for over an hour for ourentrees. When the waiter did finally come over, he had no reason why we were delayed. This restaurant is by far my favorite place to eat in Cashiers, North Carolina. For starters it is a historic building and has some really neat features to it. As you walk in you quickly realize how fun and unique this place really is. The food is absolutely delicious. Fried green tomatoes as an appetizer is a great start, but take a look at their other apps as well. If you like fish try one of their trout dinners. The risotto is always a great choice as well. We made reservations knowing it was weather contingent. It poured and our table had a little umbrella over it and there was no way to have a dinning experience. We assume when we made the reservation that weather contingent means perhaps you will beseating somewhere else in the facility. The fact of the matter is if it's pouring down rain you cannot eat there period. Themanager told us too bad and did not offer any kind of rain check or discount on another visit when the weather was better. Great Service, Marginal Food, Loud Porch Dining. Three of us went. Two of us thought that their entrees were particularly good. I though my entree was marginal. We all enjoyed the Appalachian Charcuterie Appetizer (A Board Containing Goat Cheese, Pimento, Brie (All from local farms , salami's, spiced walnuts, dried fruit and spiced blueberry preserve . One member of our party loved the spice blueberry preserve and ordered a side to go with her entree.
