"I wish I could rate this place lower. I didn’t try any of the food since it looked deserted and the displays were lacking. The server responded to my questions with one-word answers, even during small talk, which made me hesitant to order anything else.
I decided to try the ube and blueberry bubble teas after reading rave reviews from others, who clearly haven’t had good bubble tea before. What I received was a sugary concoction made from artificial powder mixed with hot water and served over ice. The drinks tasted overly sweet and lacked any real flavor. The brown sugar tapioca was crunchy instead of chewy, which is the texture you expect from tapioca pearls. The popping blueberry bubbles were just as sugary.
As someone who makes bubble tea at home and considers myself a connoisseur, I can confidently say this was not it. In fact, it left us feeling unwell, and we ended up tossing it in the trash. Logically, one would expect the dark purple drink to be blueberry if made with real ingredients, but it was the ube. This drink stained our teeth and tongues purple, while the blueberry was a pale, taro-colored concoction. Such a mix-up is confusing and clearly indicates inferior ingredients.
I was excited to find a place that offered ube, but it was a letdown. It should have had a creamy, nutty, and floral flavor, but instead, it tasted like taro powder. I have much better quality taro back home and won’t be returning here again. If their bubble tea is this low-quality, I can't imagine what their food would be like."
