"What a great little unsuspecting gem of a place in Baytown of all places! Super clean and roomy inside. Delicious and fresh food. The food is so fresh, made right when you order it, and brought out quickly. The staff is friendly, welcoming, attentive, and helpful with the menu. We ordered the Orange chicken with steamed rice it was a generous plate of delicious and tender fried chicken pieces in a sweet and orange flavored sauce. This is easily shareable, we brought home leftovers. The pork and green onion bao OMG! These were great! I’ve had bao in Asian town over in Bellaire and even while traveling including at Disney World and these here are the best Bao I’ve ever tried. I did not like the dipping sauce they brought out though, tasted like tobacco, but the bao are good alone or with the soy sauce though. The filling was tender and flavorful and the bao dough was smooth and not dry at all. The vegetable fried spring rolls these are delicious and fresh, came out piping hot, the veggies weren’t soggy and the wrapper was so flaky and crispy, and the dipping sauce is so good. You get 6 which is great for sharing. Prices are reasonable, food fresh, and service great! I definitely recommend! I can’t wait to return to try more items. We returned and tried the Fried noodles, combination no shrimp. We were warned they aren’t exactly lo mein but the closest they make but they’re right. If you want lo mein, that isn’t it. They had some sauce but some noodles weren’t covered and stuck together, the flavor isn’t right, the beef so tough and chewy, the chicken was tender and good flavored though. It’s plenty to share. Cheese Bao like a cheese stuffed fried biscuit. They were good, you get 4. We ordered soup dumplings but when brought to our table the server leaned way over into the steamer basket because she saw something in them and said something is in these let me get you new ones. Then rushed them back to the counter to discuss with the other server then with the kitchen as they’re all looking in the steamer basket discussing what it was. That scared me and even though they offered to make new one I canceled those and we left because I was scared of what it was. Not sure how I feel about here now."

"I absolutely love pho and I was craving it today. I decided to search for a spot near the area where I’m being treated for PT and I found Pho Em. After reading the reviews, I knew I had found my dinner spot. I walked in and made my way to the counter where a young man (cashier/server) was completing a sale with a patron. Once he was finished I asked him if it was okay to seat myself since I wanted to dine in. He politely answered that I was welcome to seat myself wherever I desired. I found a seat at a booth and he immediately brought a menu and happily asked me if I wanted something to drink. I requested a glass of water. When he returned I ordered 1 little Vietnamese egg roll which I thought would be accompanied by a lettuce leaf and a side sauce but it didn’t. The guy who came out with the egg roll was rather cold and nonchalant. No smile and no acknowledgment. I was pleased that my egg roll was freshly made and piping hot just like I like it. Not long after, a young lady came out with my pho which was also piping hot and so delicious. It hit the spot and I have more than enough left over for lunch tomorrow. I really want to give Pho Em 5 stars but here’s the issue I had…the young cashier was AMAZING and the young lady that served my pho was polite and wore a smile. However, there was a woman whom I presume was the owner/manager who came out several times and sat in the restaurant. I could see her glance at me several times from my peripheral vision and not once did she bother addressing me. During the entire time I was in the restaurant, besides me, there was a gentleman who came in, ordered, ate and left. I grew up in a business that my parents purchased when we came to the U.S. and I KNOW the importance of quality customer service. I am currently a business owner and I know that your patrons are your bread and butter. It costs nothing to say “hello” or “good evening” or even “thank you for your business” it all goes a long way. This woman had ample time to make contact with me and build a positive rapport but she failed to do so. It’s unfortunate that she didn’t cease the moment with a kind gesture. It makes sense that the gentleman who came out with my egg roll had a similar demeanor… lead by example. As delicious as the food was, unfortunately I don’t think I’ll be returning to Pho Em. I have certain standards and expectations for the way that I’m treated especially when I’m spending my money at an establishment."
