"Stopped here while traveling and liked the food. The prices seem reasonable but the wait staff has some issues with English and taking your order correctly! Also the second was hideous they had painted a rusty paint along all edges of the wall that looked awful and then palm trees as a border!"

"Fantastic customer service and really great food. My sister and I went to Mi Rancho for lunch last week, bringing along her 4 kids (4, 7, 9, and 13). The chips and salsa were great, and the server was quick with drink refills and chips and salsa refills. The kids had kid's meals, which were obviously pricier than McDonald's, but they loved the food. No one had to be told to eat their meal. My nephew loved his cheeseburger so much, I had a bite, and I have to say it was the best burger I have ever tasted at a Mexican restaurant. In fact, it was better than some gourmet burger places. It was perfectly grilled and had the best flavor. But if you're reading this review, you probably want to know about the Mexican food, right? It was delicious. I won't say we tried anything too unusual, but we were very happy with the food. I had spinach quesadillas and my sister had some sort of quesadilla meal also. Everyone really enjoyed their meal. A man who I think was the manager asked us how our food was and made sure we were happy. He then surprised us by bringing the kids little fancy drinks (looked like virgin strawberry daiquiris). That was really unexpected and nice! I snuck over and mentioned to someone that we had a birthday at the table, and after dessert they put a sombrero on him and sang (which I usually hate, but the kids loved it). We all had a great time, and will definitely go back!"

"UPDATE (2016 : While this is still our favorite Mexican restaurant in town, in fairness I have to update this review by noting that the portions have diminished noticeably over the past few years. The burritos, enchiladas, and gorditas all have gotten quite a bit smaller, to the point where we have to order more food now to be satisfied. It won't stop us from eating there (yet , but I can sympathize with folks who feel the amount of food they get is no longer worth the already high prices. ORIGINAL REVIEW (2011 : Anchorage has quite a few Mexican restaurants, but the vast majority of them are not vegetarian friendly (lard in the refried beans, etc. . Fortunately, the best in town, Mexico In Alaska, has an extensive vegetarian menu. My family and I eat there frequently, and we always have plenty of options to choose from. We've tried many of their offerings, and everything has been delicious I especially love their mole sauce. As another reviewer pointed out, they don't serve your typical Americanized Mexican fare; it's much more authentic. (How often will you find a cactus dish on the menu? Aside from the food, the decor is pleasing, and the service is generally very prompt. The prices are fairly high, even for Anchorage, but the servings are ample and, of course, the food is worth it. Highly recommended! Updated from previous review on 2011 03 21"

"I visited this restaurant for the first time and had a fantastic experience. The staff was extremely friendly, and I ordered the steak rancheros, which was incredible. The prices are great as well. I would definitely recommend this place!"

"This experience was disappointing. We visited on a night with live music, which was enjoyable, but the food was subpar. The beans were cold, the steak lacked flavor, and the cheese sauce was lumpy. Although we did like their salsa, I can't recommend this place when there are so many better restaurants nearby. Avoid!"

"The area might seem intimidating, but the restaurant itself is quite lovely—extremely clean and nicely tucked away from the noise of the main road. The food is the most unique Mexican cuisine I've ever experienced. Although I've tried Oaxacan dishes before, the flavors here felt completely new to me, leading me to believe it's more authentic. The service was a bit slow, so I wouldn't recommend coming here during a lunch break unless you order takeout in advance. However, the food was beautifully prepared, with clean, non-greasy flavors and very fresh ingredients. My family members usually have sensitive stomachs, but even with the very spicy salsa, we all felt fine. If I had a grandmother from Oaxaca, I imagine her food would taste just like this."

"it is very nice to go from home to a restaurant and be greeted with their names. I can assure them if they would repeat their visit to chava the owner elba would also remember their names yes I am a client of chava for at least 15 years and eating is always consistent. excellent Mexican traditional dishes, healthy suppening and ingenious seafood cocktails coast Mexican style beside the allways fresh “aguas de frutas”Im image: a baked fish fillet with french fries, salat and a side by frijolitos de la olla. is a special order and the friendly chefs are always happy to please a customer!"

"Stopped by here on our way home from Monterey. Very good food. Authentic Mexican food. Great service. I got the birria tacos. And my wife got the molcajete. Great flavor for both meals. You won't be disappointed. I think my wife got the passion punch margarita. She's very picky, but loved it. So if you're around stop by I promise you won't be disappointed."
"I love the food here. Unfortunately the girl at the front has major problem. Time after time I see her being polite to many customers. Every time I come In her attitude changes. Today she had the nerve to tell me I was on my 4th strike. After this is her 4th time being rude. It’s super uncomfortable to enjoy your meal feeling discriminated against. I will be reaching out to the owners"

"This restaurant has received good reviews, but my experience was quite the opposite. The place was unclean, with tables that weren't wiped down and a counter that resembled a storage area for dirty dishes. Flies were buzzing around the dining area due to the neglected plates sitting out. We were invited by a relative, so we felt obligated to stay, but I definitely won't be returning or recommending this place to anyone. The food was bland; the beans and rice tasted as if they had been reheated multiple times. Overall, it was a very unsatisfactory experience, and I can't help but wonder if they compensate people for those positive reviews. In my opinion, this is not a good restaurant."

"Yummie yummie and consistently good local favorite. Fresh beans and rice as well as the meat. I have never had a bad meal there. Very easy to locate with plenty of safe and free parking. The staff is always happy to see you walk in and get you seated. I suggest a pitcher of margaritas to go with your meal. Vegetarian options: Any dish can be made vegetarian Dietary restrictions: You can ask for any subsitutions to fit your dietary requirements Parking: Safe and free parking Kid-friendliness: The entire family can find something pleasing to their specific likes Wheelchair accessibility: Plenty of front ADA parking, easy entrance and table seating for ADA compliance"

"While I didn’t try anything else from the menu, the menudo was absolutely fantastic! Available only on weekends, it was packed with generous portions of tripe and very tender pig feet. The broth wasn’t overly salty, unlike most menudo I’ve tried elsewhere, and it wasn’t thick or greasy either. The highlight of my meal, however, was Teresa’s service. She was incredibly patient with my limited Spanish and even guided me to different chili options when she discovered I love spicy food. This place is a must-visit for anyone who enjoys menudo!"

"We were visiting from out of town and had two hungry toddlers with us, so we decided to order dinner online from this restaurant. The website was easy to navigate, making the ordering process a breeze. According to Google, they were supposed to be open until 9 PM on Sundays, which fit perfectly with our arrival time. However, when we got there, we found out they actually closed at 8 PM, and I felt really bad showing up after hours. Luckily, the staff member was extremely friendly and stayed to help us until about 8:45. The food was decent but a little bland on its own; however, it became much tastier once we added some sauce. It filled us up, and we genuinely appreciated their kindness during our visit."

"I had lunch at this restaurant today, and right before I left, I paid my bill and gave my server a tip. I remember I had my wallet on the table, but when I got home, I realized I had forgotten it. I called the restaurant to see if they had found it, but they said no. So, I went back in person to ask about it, and they still insisted they didn’t have it. I requested to see their security cameras, but the staff refused. It’s really hard to trust places like this."

"Stopped by just before closing didn't know it was closing yet , but they were cool with it and took our order. My wife got three chicken street tacos and I got carne asada fries! The street tacos were great and chicken was perfectly cooked and juicy and my carne asada fries were just as good, but the only thing I wasn't a big fan about was the cheese covering my fries! They use a liquid cheese Nacho cheese kind that you would find in the convenient store for a cheap hot dog. I don't know if you are able to ask for real shredded cheese or not but overall it was still good"
