"We approached the woman at the counter with smiles, but she didn’t return the gesture—she was the same woman who served me last week. I asked if it was too late to get a couple of milkshakes, and she replied that it was indeed too late, as they were closing down. We thought she was joking, but sadly she confirmed that they weren’t serving anything anymore and were already closed. 
In today's economic climate, it seems like a small business would want to welcome any customer, even if it meant having to wash an ice cream scooper or rinse a blender. My little brother was disappointed, but we ended up going to Dairy Queen down the road instead."
