"I have a thing for beer battered ANYTHING. But my fave beer battered food is onion rings. My mom made them when I was a kid, and I have been in search of some that are comparable with Mom's. I have been disappointed for years, until we ate at Mac's. The angels started singing, and I was in Heaven! They had the perfect beer flavor with a tender, crispy, smooth textured batter over just the right sized rings of sweet onions. No need for the ketchup that came to dip them in. Now I know where to go when I want onion rings! We also got ribs. They were better most ribs we have had in Maine but they were a little dry, so it was good to have lots of BBQ sauce. I am a Corky's ribs and pulled pork girl from Memphis, so I am tough to please, though. I got the baked beans, which were some of the tastiest I have had, with pieces of pork in the beans. For me, it was great that they were smoky, not spicy. My husband got the roasted root vegetables, which were very underwhelming, so he asked to switch to baked beans, after tasting mine. The waitress was friendly and helpful. She brought samples of their BBQ sauces when I asked about which was the least vinegary, because of my dietary restrictions. She struck just the right balance of attentiveness, and giving us space. I am sorry that I don't remember her name. We will go back and try a steak next time, or maybe we will just eat beer battered onion rings, lots of onion rings."
