"I would not subject myself to the treatment of the owner of this place ever again!!! Ordered medium-well fillet and told them it was ok to butterfly; instead got it got it rare, then medium-rare, then shriveled-up well-done (looked like it had been microwaved). I tried to be as understanding and as discrete as possible, even though the waiter recognized it was wrong each time he brought it and watched me cut it. And although I tried not to say much, he would encourage me to be honest. When they attempted to cook a second steak and it came back rare, I asked if they could at least get it to medium (because I gag on blood). It came back somewhere between medium-rare and medium. During the few seconds I silently debated on whether I could choke it down or not, the owner (who was setting a table behind us), suddenly raised his voice and started accusing me of not knowing what I was talking about and berating me. This was TOTALLY unprovoked and extremely rude. I was in shock (as were my guest and the others in the restaurant)! Nonetheless Fat Larry claimed the steak was medium-well (even after I raised it so he could see it wasn't) and continued to heckle and embarrass me. I tried to calmly explain that I did in fact know what medium-well was and that I'd had it there on my only previous visit. But the guy just wouldn't stop! The poor waiter kept whispering his apology and when Fat Larry continued to belittle me, I chose to ignore him and not argue, stood up, asked the waiter for a to-go box for my guest, stated calmly that I would pay for her meal only, that we were leaving and would not be back. I paid for the other meal, tipped the waiter for it (who was still apologizing profusely) and reiterated that I would not be back but would let others know of this mistreatment. I don't know how the guy stays in business because no meal is good enough to tolerate being verbally abused by the owner."

"We've been coming to this restaurant for years now and it never disappoints! Many of the waitstaff have been there for years and the food is outstanding! It has the Northwoods vibe going with a great selection of beers for those who like beer and a tremendous menu of sandwiches and entrees. One very nice surprise we found yesterday was the addition of a salad bar, which had disappeared during the pandemic. But it is back and kept fresh and well stocked! The salad dressings are all home made and delicious! Everything you would expect from a great Wisconsin restaurant was there and you really could make a great meal with just the salad bar if all of the other food was just not so darned good! We had the Pub Special sandwich and the fried Haddock NOT Cod which was done perfectly! The beer batter was light and fluffy and not at all greasy or overwhelming. It let the true flavor and texture of the haddock come through which was absolutely delicious! The Pub Special, which has always been one of our favorite items on the menu was, as usual, outstanding in every respect! Great flavor, great combination of shaved beef, onions, mozzarella cheese, and mushrooms. Just outstanding with the au jus provided that brings it all together. The thing that this restaurant does SO well, besides the terrific waitresses who make it a total Wisconsin experience with their humor and good nature, is that pay strict attention to some of the little details that separate a good restaurant from a GREAT restaurant. They heat the dinner rolls, which, to me takes some effort to get right, but they get it completely right with the crusty on the outside and soft and fluffy on the inside! Perfect! Also, another little touch that is wonderful is that, with a baked potato, they provide a sour cream sauce that has chives infused into it! Makes the final product exquisite in flavor and texture! Your glass is never empty and the waitresses are totally wonderful! If you are in Rhinelander or anywhere near, this is one of the best Northwoods restaurants in the area and shouldn't be missed if you are looking for a pure Wisconsin gastric delight!"

"The whole regular menu was gone, to my surprise and a holiday menu was put in. This menu had one salad, one soup, two entree turkey or fish and both came with the same sides and no other sides were offered) and 2 desserts to choose from. None were available for anyone with any kind of diet I am gluten free, and also on an ayurvedic protocol for my diet. I can 't have raw salads), dairy the soup had dairy), root vegetables the sides were carrots and potatoes) or gluten both desserts had gluten) But it was a holiday at 5pm where else was I to eat? So I stood. The turkey was supposed to be a roulade with walnuts the entire plate was so small the inner stuffing consisted of one, half, of one walnut. Not only could I barely eat anything without breaking all my dietary restrictions, which do make me ill) But I did eat it, all and still left HUNGRY I am a 130lb girl, and I left my $65 Thanksgiving meal $125 after drinks) still hungry The dessert came out, the whipped cream was all over and looked nasty like a 3 year old was given the can.... Lastly I tried to subdue the bad-ness with some drinks and got told to get a cocktail shed have to go all the way to the bar out side and it would take time I then later heard her happily get cocktails for a table of 4 and they were there super fast) so I decided to go with wine and I asked for the house pinot noir, and was told not only did they not have that wine but they didn 't have a single house wine available at all due to changing the menu so instead of a $7 glass I was forced to buy a $12 glass upon the fact that I had 3 glasses you see how they get their money) Honestly I was SO excited for this restaurant. Especially because I 'm a new local living right down the street with a shuttle to the casino, but I don 't gamble. But I DO eat and drink, it just won 't be here."

"We’ve been excited to try Claude’s for awhile. Maybe the high expectations made it a bigger letdown than it would have been otherwise, but here are the pros and cons: PRO: one side of the restaurant is beautifully decorated with amazing ambience. CON: we were seated on the other side which looks like a banquet hall with almost no ambience and was extremely loud. I gazed sadly over at the pretty side of the restaurant and tried to hear what my husband was saying as we conversed over the noise. PRO: our server was very nice and fairly attentive. CON: I ordered a glass of wine and the server greeted me like I was crazy because she didn’t think they had it. We had to open up the wine list and I to show it to her. The fact that she didn’t know it was there was one thing, but making me feel stupid for ordering it was another. PROS:My scallops and my husband’s branzino were beautifully presented. They LOOKED perfect. The oysters Rockefeller appetizer was delicious. Lobster bisque was ok. CONS: The branzino was full of bones, which our server said couldn’t be avoided, but this is something we have ordered other places and never had an issue with. Again, we were made to feel stupid for even questioning it. The scallops were perfectly cooked but so salty it was hard to enjoy them. The asparagus that accompanied them was so salty that I couldn’t even finish it. So much potential for this restaurant, but way too much to spend for the over salted food, poor atmosphere (if you get stuck on the wrong side of the restaurant), and server that left us feeling bad for ordering a glass of wine she didn’t know about and questioning all of the bones. We are bummed because we love seafood and were hopeful to finally find a good seafood place in the Toledo area. If it wasn’t as high end in terms of price we’d give it another try and hoped for a better cook/server working that night, but definitley don’t want to risk spending that on another disappointing experience."
