"If I 'm being honest, the food was just ok. The rotisserie chicken with house rub was dry. They put way too much smoky flavoring into their collard greens. I 've never had collard greens in that way before and it was overbearing and annoying. It already had bacon in it. Why fix what ain 't broke? as the saying goes. The grits was outstanding, however, as usual. The (unsweetened) kiwi strawberry tea is just okay. It has a nice fragrance but don 't expect much extra in the way of flavor. The service was really nice and they clearly cared about our experience. Our server, Jordan, did everything right and was very helpful! The kitchen also agreed to an extra side of sliced cucumber for us to dip into the hummus appetizer. The hummus appetizer was fresh and delicious with lots of garlic. The duck empanadas appetizer was fine but considering how unhealthy it probably is, it wasn 't worth it. It tasted a lot like a Doritos Locos chalupa from Taco Bell , surprisingly! The atmosphere is great, though I 'm not sure why they were playing hardcore screaming rock at one point hahaha. It was a funny juxtaposition. I think the most impressive thing about this place is how consistent their service is even when they 're clearly very busy. We had no wait at all and great service. Also their menu is very diverse and I like that. Just maybe don 't get the white meat chicken. Opt for dark meat wherever possible."

"This location seems very quiet and laid back. I went for an early lunch on Sunday, and there was hardly anyone in there when I arrived and when I left. I sat in the bar area since I was dining alone. It was so nice and bright, where the dining area is dimly lit. I was asked to show proof of vaccination before being seated. Kat, the bartender and my server was so nice and attentive. The food hit the spot. I ordered my favorite, the almond shrimp and spinach salad, but this time I ordered the almond shrimp entree. I was able to order a spinach salad as a side for a dollar extra and I ordered the corn grits as the other side. I recently became a fan on the corn grits, didn't care for them in the past, but they are a must try when visiting any Zea location. I began with my salad, it was a meal in itself. I cut it up and I feel like it just expanded in the bowl. I was near the end of my salad when Kat brought the rest of my meal. To my surprise, the entree comes with double the portion of the almond shrimp the appetizer does. Well there was no way I was going to eat all of that. I finished my salad, tasted my corn grits, enjoyed a few shrimp and packed the rest to take home for lunch the next day. I love when I get a bonus meal! The shrimp reheated well in my air fryer and Kat sent me home with some of the sauces to pour over them. The corn grits reheat well in the microwave, and think they tasted even better than the day I ordered them. Zea is one of the old faithful restaurants that you can visit for a good meal for a descent price with a nice ambiance. This will also be one of my new go-tos when I'm dining alone. The entire staff was nice and inviting, even the chef thanked me for coming as I was leaving. Until we meet again."

"This sandwich and salad shop offers counter service with plenty of seating both inside and outside. It’s conveniently located just a short walk upstairs and across the street from the pedestrian bridge over the Reedy River near Main St/Wyche Pavilion. The exterior signage isn't huge, but the full tables of diners outside made it clear we had found the right place. The menu features a wide selection of hot and cold sandwiches and salads, with options that range from classic to creative, all customizable to your liking. Side options include chips, French fries, pasta salad, potato salad, coleslaw, and more. What surprised us the most was the selection of beer. They had a good variety of craft beers in cans and bottles, all reasonably priced at around $4-5. They also serve wine by the glass or bottle, and it was convenient that the beverage options were displayed clearly. After we placed our order, we received a number to put on our table so waitstaff could find us when our food was ready. Initially, we thought it would be helpful to wait for our drinks at the counter, but the staff preferred that patrons be seated and let them serve directly to the table. Our food arrived in a reasonable timeframe—not too quick, but not unreasonably long. We decided to split the Ribeye Philly Cheesesteak, and it looked so delicious when it came that we let the waitstaff leave before requesting an extra plate. Although the servers aren’t constantly walking around, so we did have to walk back to the counter for our initial drinks, the slight inconvenience is more than worth it for the delicious food they’re preparing behind the scenes."

"TLDR: disappointing. Good; Service was great, Tori the bartender was very nice and friendly and explained things well. Fries were excellent Atmosphere very nice, upscale feel (unfortunately not matched by the food, see below , love the exposed brick and art. Needs Improvement: Cocktails very limited options, did not even have Aperol or Campari so classics such as an Aperol Spritz, Negroni or Boulevardier are off the board. Poor rum and Tequilla options as well. with the cocktails that I wanted not available I went with a glass of wine and here I have issues as well wine was served extremely cold (a problem in a lot of restaurants but worse in a tiny glass that did not allow for the wine to have much of a nose at all. they should invest in some glasses with a larger bowl that will allow the aromas of a wine to be enjoyed to the fullest extent. Food: recurring theme for me: aesthetics we eat with our eyes first and there were some very unappetizing choices here. 1. French Onion Soup broth was tasty but the cheese looked like unmelted bits of Swiss cheese floating in the broth very unappealing to the eye and not what I expect with French Onion, the croutons were complete soggy as well and had clearly been sitting in the broth for a while gross. 2. Side salad this tasted good but aesthetics could be improved. Here the problem was the vinaigrette which had a look like bright pink toothpaste (and kind of had that texture as well . A good vinaigrette should not have that texture. 3. Croque Madame the biggest crime here was the bread soggy toast that looked straight from the grocery store. Invest in some sourdough or even and English muffin would have been better. Eggs were cooked okay but again aesthetics were an issue the béchamel (looked more like just melted cheese was haphazardly mangled across the eggs and the limp toast, this was crying out for a garnish of some kind (or maybe even put the eggs on top of the sauce? . See pic below. Overall hugely disappointing for the price, seemed like diner fare. I was told that dinner is better, but I would have a difficult time going back after my first experience here."
