"I took my wife and two children out for Mother's Day and only had to wait 5 minutes for a Hibachi table at 3:30. The restaurant was super clean, even the ventilation above the grill looked brand new. The chef was skilled and engaging, cooking our food perfectly. My son and I had shrimp and noodles, while my wife and daughter chose rice. I had 13 shrimp, all cooked the same way, and they came with 2 sauces (other places usually have 4). Overall, I would give this restaurant a 5/5 for cleanliness and a 4/5 for the food. Not bad at all, definitely one of the better options in the area."

"Bottom line up front: The restaurant staff is friendly and well meaning, but they appear overwhelmed, you might be waiting for a while. The restaurant could use a good cleaning...I def experienced sticky floors. That being said, the food is awesome! (And well worth the wait) I ordered the Godzilla roll (I recommend), which was a tasty combination of different fish (I think Tuna and Scallops) and the St. Petersburg. The rolls' rice was cooked to perfection, and the texture was spot on: crunchy when it was supposed to be, and soft when it was supposed to be. Wife had the Spider roll and the Golden roll. Her only complaint was that the Golden roll had too much tempura."

"First time. Poor server, unknowledgeable of dim sum menu. Wanted crunchy noodles, whereas was told they weren’t on the dim sum menu. However, table next to us, enjoying a plate full of crunchy noodles. Next, we were told you were out of pork ribs on the dim sum menu. Following that, we were told the long rolls people had ordered off the dim sum menu were like Mexican churros and that our soup choice was not on the dim sum menu. Wrong again. Because two tables ordered soup and rolls, no sugar, and were dipping them in the soup, along with their dim sum choices. Finally, our first experience poor and perhaps had we had a more knowledgeable server we might have returned for lunch."

"The service was friendly and attentive. Portions big and sushi rolls were great! There was confusion between servers on who was serving our table, so there was a minor delay on taking our order. They brought us a yummy appetizer as an apology and we thought that was above and beyond what they needed to do. My friend spilled her soup and they helped clean up and brought another soup for her. Will definitely come back!"

"Lalo was AMAZING! Me some coworkers went to dinner with a Vendor, and we went here on a Thursday. Lalo gave us an unbelievable experience. We told him what we liked and said we trusted him with any recommendations. He orchestral our entire dinner including cocktails dessert. It was definitely an experience one that ranks high on the list of best dinner experiences! Some top favorites was the 72 hr short rib nigri, maguro coco (tuna with melon coconut milk), Island Heat (cocktail), demon slayer sake and fried milk! Everything was INCREDIBLE! Thank you Lalo for taking unbelievable care of us for the delicious experience"

"This place offers great views of the bay but the service was terrible. First they started off by being out of a few drink items on the menu (not a huge deal). Then after we got our first round of drinks it took 40 minuets to even have our food order placed. When someone finally came over the first thing they said was just so you know it 's going to be a while for sushi . I asked how long was a while and they replied a while . Not super helpful. Turns out they were short staffed which is not their fault exactly but a while turned out to be over 2 hours (from placing our order) for bland sushi. My fault for going to what was I guess a tourist place but still, would not recommend."

"Tomo is always amazing. The staff is fantastic, the food is wonderful, and the ambiance is warm and sophisticated. We never order from the menu. We just let our waitress (usually May) choose dishes for us that are served “family style.” For sake lovers, they have a huge selection. Special cocktails are also delicious. Don’t miss the multi-layered cake for dessert. We celebrated our son’s 21st birthday at Tomo last night and had a blast."

"We waited approx. 5 minutes, while the receptionist took a phone call. Dining area non-hibachi was small, but nicely decorated. The waitress who sat with menus, apologized for waiting and asked for our day. Our waiter came about 10 minutes later and apologized for the delay. I ordered the sushi dinner w/eel and tobiko, no shrimp and no seeds. When he brought out the eel, he noticed the sesame seed and took it back. CATCH! He apologized and told me my sushi dinner was out soon. I drank hot tea. My friend ordered the Teriyaki? Chicken. It was very satisfied with the portions and texture of meat and vegetables. Price incl. tip about $75-80. Two corrections, 1 refill of the hot tea or switch to teapots and 2 place an additional waiter for the dining room. Overall, we were satisfied with the ambience, the portions, the presentation and the price. We'd eat here again."

"Food 5/10 Very mid sushi. Large slabs but they tasted too fishy, and it wasn’t even at a cheap price either. Lowkey feel like my school cafe could do better. Was quite disappointed with what we got. The gyoza was tasty though. The sushi platter for two came with three rolls and nine nigiris. We had to dip into soy sauce ourselves, but the nigiri came with a little bit of wasabi, but I don’t think it was enough to cancel out just how fishy everything was. The rice was also hard and not very flavored. Atmosphere 6/10 Typical Japanese restaurant, mid vibes. Service 6/10 It was fine I guess."

"Delicious food, but here's what you need to know: When it comes to sushi rolls, freshness is critical. But it's not the only field that needs to be checked. Portion is also critical. On a scale of freshness, a clear 5 stars. Someone knows their fish and that highly evident. Their soup and soft shell crab is also delicious. I will critique their sushi roll portion sizes. For $15 a roll, one expects to feel full on 2 rolls. The portions were much smaller than expected for the price. With that said, the portions of my other options were good, and the food was super tasty. This place carries a good reputation and has been around for a long time. It's worth giving a try."

"In Orlando with my girlfriends family for her dad taking us to Disney, I was tasked with choosing the sushi dinner of the trip. For context, my girlfriends dad has been to Japan multiple times and has incredibly high standards for sushi and any Japanese cuisine. By the time we sat down, he was gushing over the authentic Japanese decor. We ordered the blue fin tasting, different rolls, the toro carpaccio, rock shrimp waygu appetizer among other items. He was blown away, as was our entire party, by the quality, freshness, taste display of every dish. Our entire party loved this meal and highly recommends this restaurant to anyone looking for top notch sushi. The best part is the overall value. Coming from NY, this same dinner would cost as much for lower quality. This place delivers. extra point for the impression it made with the girlfriendâs dad"

"So we got home from a night football game, starving… After getting off the 1-Muni, we went to look for a place to eat dinner at 9:30pm. We didn’t have to go far! Sushi Rock is open til 12:30am on Fridays and Saturdays. The food was decent, although, I didn’t particularly like their Sake (smoked salmon) – a little too salty. I didn’t try any of the rolls, but they looked good. There are a few originals…like a mango tuna roll. I’ll have to go back and try some of those. But the “rock box” was a lot of food and a good price and I was very hungry. Another bonus – large sake collection and 3 drinks for the price of 2 after 10pm!"

"Fusion in this case just means “other asian food.” Honestly, not super impressed with this place considering the other reviews. The food is not bad, but it’s definitely nothing special and feels expensive for what it is. The specialty rolls were worse than the normal maki. Ambience leans very heavily into the lounge part of the name. It’s really dark. Might be your vibe. There must be better ramen/sushi/general asian food in chicago."

"The entire dinner was not the experience we normally have. The taste and quality was lacking…the wagyu was beyond chewy. The Hama chili portions were off…we have eaten this dish 50+ times and were so disappointed this time. The fish was super thick and not every piece of fish had an orange to pair with it. The gyutoro was probably the biggest disappointment…we always start and end the meal with this and it was nothing but fat. Our waiter forgot multiple things…this being one of them that we end the night with this dish. He forgot my champagne. He brought the spicy kinoko nabe when we asked for the regular. I was extremely sad they decided to get rid of the sorbet trio and do a vegan gf sundae…it was disgusting. We were so sad to have spent our 11 year wedding anniversary at our favorite restaurant and be completely let down…especially since we drove almost 4 hours for it. Writing this review in hopes that it gets better for our next visit…"

"Our first visit was my son's 13th birthday. This is a cute little place that stays busy. I'd been eyeing it for some time now. Overall the food was good. The sushi was fresh and flavorful. The teriyaki dishes initially all came out cold but the manager quickly remade each dish and we enjoyed them as well. Our server was attentive and more than accommodating. She truly made our first experience memorable. My only critique is that it was freezing in the place. I will return."

"Another great night for my wife and I at a great priced local restaurant (we frequent this gem a few times a month). The food quality for the price is awesome. We are huge Sushi/Sashimi fans, and the portions for their Tuna and Salmon Sashimi are great for the price. The quality and quantity of the food for the price and the fact that it is a BYOB puts it over the top for any other Sushi place in the area."
