"I cannot recommend this place in good conscience. I hope someone else reads this and it saves them, since we way overpaid for this mediocre food. It 's been about 10 years since I 've been to the Nautical Mile and I had spots that are still there that I would still recommend. I had never been here before and friends that stayed in the area the night before wanted to try somewhere new so we gave it a shot without looking online. Let me say I live in Manhattan and am used to high cost food, but usually at a premium quality. All the specials do NOT have prices listed on them, nor do the Crabs or Lobster, or drink specials. Our fault we didn 't ask but you would not expect reading the menu to get assaulted on the price this badly. Onto the food; 1: As I saw another reviewer mention, we ordered Paella, it was 65$, though we asked if it was a single portion or family style and was told it was a single portion. Importantly, it wasn 't Paella. It was a big seafood platter with Marinara sauce and a little rice soaking at the bottom. Nothing even close resembling Paella. 2: The lobster was 85$. I 'm struggling to think of another restaurant in LI that charges that much for just a steamed lobster, which came with steamed veggies/yellow rice which were absolutely unflavored. Extremely deceptive and cannot recommend ever. 3: Skirt Steak was 40$, and again overpriced for what you get. Also on the menu it listed it came with a Chimichurri sauce, which was not what I got, just some brown sauce that they probably use for every steak. 4: 21$ 'Blue Rasberry Frose. Give me a break here, the most overpriced least flavor Frose I 've ever seen. Again no price for it on the menu. 5: As others mentioned, 20% non-optional 'Gratuity ', which was for a party of 4. That is not what the word Gratuity means. We were also told we 'd get a discount for using cash instead of credit which for a restaurant charging almost 350$ for a meal for 4 people, and only 1 drink besides water was ordered is insulting. I will say the staff (we did not deal with management) was pleasant. I am not going to complain to management, just recommend others do not waste their time here, as they may get my money for their tactics, but lose much more from others learning from my mistake. The view on the canal was good, but you can get this without the pain at literally any of the other amazing establishments in the area. Try somewhere else, even if it doesn 't look like your vibe, and you 'll probably have a better time than here."

"We were weary of crowds after fighting our way through the German Festival, when we stumbled upon this location. When I lived in SF, I always ate Paxti's pizza, and I was very excited to see that they serve deep dish pizzas. We went in and were told that it would be a 20 minute wait as a soccer team had just left and absolutely thrashed the place. This was fine, with me, so I milled around outside and reviewed the menu. After about 20 minutes, I had decided that I wanted to order about 5 different pizzas. Of course, this wouldn't be practical for a family of 6, so we decided on the garlic bread and a Chicago chopped with red chili flakes (for the littles). The garlic bread came out fairly quickly and I was pleasantly surprised by the presentation. I was very happy to see the piles of fresh basil in top of the perfect slices of bread. Each bite was crisp and refreshing without have the kick that fresh garlic can have. The marinara sauce was top notch! Fresh with wonderfully juicy chunks of ripe tomatoes. When the pizza came out, I immediately checked the bottom of it. I've been to many deep dish restaurants and the bottom of the crust is usually soggy. This one was crisp and nicely covered with cornmeal. It was piping hot, stodgy and did not buckle under the weight of the toppings. I used a knife and fork to eat it, but I could have easily used my hands. With each bite you could taste the care and love that went into making the pizza. I would come back multiple time a week if I lived in the area and I definitely want to try the rest of the menu. Sorry Paxti's. I have a new favorite!"
