"We always enjoy dining at Adobe Verde, but it's more about the ambiance of the restaurant and the charm of Gruene than the finest Mexican cuisine. While the quality is decent, it doesn't rank as the best in town. We started with chips, queso, and salsa; the salsa was a bit bland this time, though it has been better during previous visits. The queso, however, had a nice flavor. My wife ordered a quesadilla, and unfortunately, it was disappointing. This was the main reason for downgrading our rating from five stars to four. The tortillas were somewhat stale, lacking any peppers, and there was only a minimal amount of cheese in the very lightly grilled tortillas. It wasn't their best effort. On the other hand, I had the fish tacos, which were quite good. The fish, while likely frozen and fried, paired well with the spicy sauce and fresh corn tortillas. The black beans and rice were also enjoyable. We visit several times a year, so I hope our next experience returns to the higher quality we've enjoyed in the past."
