"This restaurant is pretty much in the middle of nowhere, but if you’re looking it up, you probably know that already. Honestly, I can’t remember if there are any better dining options in the vicinity, so you might find yourself in a bit of a tough spot. The food, unfortunately, is quite disappointing. Given the lack of decent places to eat nearby, I can see why it might not live up to expectations.
However, the reason I’m not giving it a single star is that the staff, particularly the woman working here, is extremely nice. I truly don’t want to hurt her feelings because she seems like a wonderful person, but I have to be honest—the food is really not good.
**1. Pork Wings 'N' Fries - $8.50:** Oh my goodness... You get three tiny pieces that might as well be pork scraps. Not only do they look unappetizing, but they taste just as bad. Did I mention they are TINY? You’d get about half the meat of a decent country rib. Plus, they were so dry and completely lacking in flavor. The fries were somewhat reminiscent of McDonald’s, which is usually fine, but nothing could save the poorly made pork wings. Rating: 1/10
**2. Chocolate Chip Cookie:** I can’t believe they messed up a basic chocolate chip cookie. Seriously, how do you do that? It’s hard, but not crunchy. I can't tell if they were going for chewy or crunchy, but regardless, it’s not something I want to eat again. Rating: 2.5/10
**3. Sweet Potato Tots - $4.00:** WOW. After the first two dishes, I was shocked by how good these are! They are juicy, and the piping-hot sweet potato inside is fantastic. They’re bursting with flavor—totally the opposite of the pork wings. After having these, I can’t understand why I haven’t seen sweet potato tots like this anywhere else. Rating: 10/10
So, the sweet cashier (is she the owner?) came over and asked how I liked the pork wings (which she actually recommended). I'm not one to sugarcoat things, so I told her they were dry. She apologized and walked away, but later returned to sincerely ask how she could make it right. I told her I appreciated the gesture but that I was fine. Kindness really does make a difference… well, sort of.
In the end, I was ready to give this place a 1-star rating, but because of the friendly service, I’ll bump it up to 2 out of 5 stars. #grandlake #colorado #wedding #americanfood"
