"With four locations all over Rhode Island, Jacky’s Waterplace has become a Ocean State staple for fresh sushi and an unreasonably wide variety of classic and contemporary Asian Cuisines including Chinese, Japanese, Thai, Vietnamese, Cambodian and more. I went to the Providence location to celebrate my birthday with my family! And boy, did we celebrate. They spoil me. We started off with the chicken lettuce wraps, shrimp lettuce wraps, spring rolls, honey glazed boneless ribs and gyoza. The lettuce wraps come four per order, and Jacky’s has my favorite version of this appetizer that seems to be on every appetizer menu now a days. Each piece of lettuce comes filled to the brim with the chicken (or shrimp), water chestnut, carrot, shiitake mushroom, and pine nut mixture. And each piece of lettuce sits on top of an oversized wonton. This is by far the best solution to the sloppy-messy-falling apart-soggy lettuce wrap problem I’ve ever seen. I always tell myself I won’t eat the wonton to save room for everything else, but, uh – let’s be real. I devoured it. The spring rolls were tasty and traditional. There are only two per order but they come cut in half – this is a great appetizer to share that won’t fill you up too much. What I like most about these spring rolls is that the outer crust is crunchy without being slimy from the oil they were fried in. The honey glazed boneless ribs were phenomenal. They were tender and delicately sweet! However, try to show some self control and don’t go for the pickled radish and carrots that are on the plate. You don’t always have to eat the garnish but I don’t have any self control and always try them! They were…interesting. I tried it paired it with the ribs themselves to see if they were supposed to compliment each other. And just…no. Pass. Focus on the highlight of the dish! The gyoza were tasty but small. I mean, real small. Bite size. Not that their size should be considered a negative, they’re just appetizers! The pork inside is extremely well seasoned and delicious! These sure as hell aren’t those flavorless fried dough pockets you have to drown in dipping sauce from the only Chinese take out place opened at 3 a.m. (you guys know who I’m talking about). My brother and mother ordered from the sushi menu for dinner. My brother got the spicy tuna maki roll entrée. Here’s the thing – I have nothing negative to say about these rolls. They’re good. Tasty. Spicy. But they taste like every other spicy tuna roll you can get in Rhode Island. That’s not a bad thing, it is what it is. But I cannot say with enough emphasis that when you come to Jacky’s you are much better off ordering the sashimi! If you love raw fish, you cannot go wrong here. Every piece is fresh and just melts in your mouth. It’s rare to find a place that can consistently, visit after visit provide such a quality product. And raw fish is nothing to mess around with! If you ever had the unfortunate experience of having a piece of sashimi that just doesn’t taste quite right, you know how amazing it is to find a place that delivers! And Jacky’s most definitely does. My Dad and I went the noodle route – he ordered the Singapore Noodles and I ordered the Japanese Udon noodles with shrimp. The Singapore Noodles are listed on the menu as having jalapeños and curry…so why my father (who doesn’t like spicy foods) ordered this dish is beyond me. He swore up and down that when he orders this dish normally it’s “not THAT spicy.” But apparently this night, it was. We ended up trading. I guess the lesson here is the spice level is inconsistent. So if you’re not sure if you can handle it, try something else! But if you’re like me and love a kick to your meal: go for it. It’s delicious. The udon noodles were freakin’ awesome. I got them with shrimp and I love, love love, that I didn’t get a dish filled with those creepy ass tiny little baby thumbnail size shrimp. You know, those creepy ones you get in much crappier Chinese restaurants? None of that here. At Jacky’s they know that no self respecting Rhode Islander would tolerate such nonsense. HUGE SHRIMP IN YOUR UDON NOODLES: CHECK. Finally, at the end of the meal our waitress (who was fantastic) surprised me with a birthday cheesecake! It was just enough for the entire family to get in on – it was so creamy! I don’t know if they make it in house, but it didn’t taste out of a box. Jacky’s Waterplace has consistently delivered great food and wonderful service across each location. The only thing that puts the Providence location over the rest is the view! "Pleasantly surprised by the food and quick service. Wanted American Chinese and decided to give this place a try despite the reviews— so glad I did! Ordered online and it was ready when it said it would be. Went inside and saw how food was cooked fresh and to order. It was clean and very deliciously smelling. Ordered an appetizer sample and it smelled and tasted fresh and with quality. Got an order of general gau’s for my husband he and liked his meal. The flavors of the lo mein had that wok flavor and I was impressed. The food was fried well but not only. Will definitely come here again."

"Atmosphere: N/A (I’ve only ordered takeout.) On my first order, I had the moo shu veggie, but unfortunately, the cabbage didn’t taste fresh. When I called to let them know, they were very accommodating and told me not to worry and to come back. Months later, I returned, and they remembered me. This time, the meal was much improved and not overly greasy. The food was tasty and fresh, though it could have been a bit more flavorful. "I'm currently staying in a hotel from out of town and ordered from this restaurant the following: 2 liter of soda Wonton Soup Lemon Chicken.Instead of a 2 liter I received 3 cans of Coke and was informed they were out of 2 liters. Doing the quick and dirty math a 2 liter is ~67.6 fl oz. A Can of soda is 12 oz. 67/12 5.58. So I should have received a minimum of 5 cans for cost, technically 5.5. So 5 cans or 6.I also received no flatware with which to eat my meal. No chopsticks, no fork, no spoon, nothing.Luckily I was able to go to the lobby and get some disposable flatware, but that meant coming all the way up to my room, unpacking the food, realizing I had nothing to eat it with, and having to go back down to the lobby.Not a huge deal in itself, but when coupled with the soda issue (especially since the soda is already overpriced, but again stuck in a hotel and figured I'd eat the cost to have it delivered rather than making a trip out to the store)."

"Decor and ambience was very cool. Very inviting. We sat at the bar so we wouldn't have to wait. Someone helped us right away with drinks, appetizers, etc. She was very helpful and very attentive. We went all out and got some cocktails, beer, and sake bombs. The menu had a decent selection of drink options but alot of it was unavailable, which is understandable given the current supply chain issue. For appetizers we opted for the edamame (always a classic, always good),Thai coconut shrimp (to die for, a must of you're looking for a great app), and beef negimaki (I probably wouldn't order it again but I'm glad I tried it). Sooo many choices for Sushi Rolls! The problem with that is, you don't know what'sactually good! We ordered the Chef's special roll, Jaguar roll, Honey roll, and the table side presented Fire roll. I give these rolls a 3 out of 5, unfortunately. Presentation was good, I probably just failed to order the right ones thatwould personally hit the spot. We wanted to try one of the Thai main dishes so we selected the Pad Thai. One of my favorite noodle dishes. Wu's House did it justice. I'd say 4 out of 4. Enough tang and sweetness to satisfy my tastebuds! From the hibachi grill we got the steak, shrimp, and salmon combo with a couple of sides of golden sauce (aka egg yolk sauce). I'd say it was what to be expected of the hibachi presentation. Overall it was a great experience, goodservice, and good food! I would definitely go back to give the sushi rolls another chance."

"My God! This must be the best hot pot experience I've ever had. We went on a Thursday afternoon and had no waiting time and there were lunch prices that make it an even better floor. Our server was the sweetest and so helpful! The vegetables, seafood, noodles, dumplings and sauce bar were all served themselves and everything you can eat. We had the tomato broth and the original marrow and they were rich and full of taste. We did the premium package, which was really amazing for the price. The ribeye was so tender and pig bell was also delicious. You even have Dessert! The soft portion was rich and creamy and a perfect way to finish the meal!"

"I enjoy going to Taos for Happy Hour with friends. I have also had a good lunch experience there before. They offer a nice selection of beer on tap and their wines are better than many other places in the area. The food is Asian fusion style and some dishes are quite delicious. My partner absolutely loves the swordfish dumplings. The appetizer sizes are generous for the price and it's fun to order a few and share them with the table. They recently removed some seating in the bar area to make space for larger communal tables. While not ideal, it can be slightly uncomfortable to have strangers sitting right next to you, especially if you're with a group of friends."

"This Chinese restaurant was a terrible disappointment. While our server was efficient, the food was bland and poorly prepared. We ordered the shrimp and pineapple lettuce cups, but they lacked flavor and the pineapples were nowhere to be found. Instead, they were filled with water chestnuts. The noodles were flavorless and lacking in vegetables. I had to add my own seasonings to make them edible. The egg drop soup tasted like thickened water with egg, and the chicken with broccoli was disappointingly bland. Overall, the food was not up to par with other Chinese restaurants and the prices were unreasonably high for the quality. It felt like we were being ripped off."

"I just ordered delivery from here and ordered two regular entrees from their vegetarian section because I wanted to try them. Their online menu states entrees are vegan unless otherwise stated , the fact that they even mention the word vegan in their menu really makes me trust that they know what it means. I ordered the Mapo tofu and tofu hunan style. I put into the notes the word vegan just to be super sure. The Mapo tofu was absolutely delicious. It tasted so fresh that I could taste actual ginger pieces in the sauce, wasn 't super duper heavy, but the sauce was still really savory. I will order this again. The tofu hunan style is what you see in most Chinese places, still delicious nonetheless. Their portion sizes are huge, if you want leftovers, get their large portions. The prize is also extremely reasonable. Even though I got delivery my entrees were still hot when they arrived."

"We have been living in Gresham for three years and often pass by this restaurant. Tonight, we finally decided to give it a try. Coincidentally, it was also their first night back offering dine-in service. The exterior is vibrant and reminiscent of places in Las Vegas. However, walking inside, we were absolutely amazed. The space is clean, beautifully decorated, and has an overall fantastic atmosphere for dining. We were seated quickly and provided with menus. Within minutes, our drinks were served and our orders were taken. The service was excellent! Our server was friendly and once we received our meals, she gave us the space we appreciated.
