"*Update 5/21/2022: Before I moved out of the Temecula/Murrieta area, I wanted to write a review for a restaurant that I frequented since my teenage years. Even back in the days of fax machine food delivery through a company called Dine-In Delivery, I have always enjoyed dining at this establishment. Some of us may remember those old days before Uber Eats became popular. My wish was to have one last taste of this iconic restaurant before I left the area. I used to visit this place whenever I came back to see my mom, but now that I have sold the house, I wanted one final memory of it. I wrote this review before placing my order, and I must say, the food left a bad taste in my mouth. The only positive thing I can say is that the rice was good. The salsa served with the meal was disappointing and tasted worse than what I had six months ago. It's hard for me to find anything positive to say in this rare case. I have taken some photos of the restaurant, as I have always loved this place. Can they go back to the way they used to be? I'm not sure, as it seems they are cutting costs and losing business by failing to meet customer expectations. It saddens me to see this iconic restaurant deteriorate. If I prefer a taco from Taco Bell over the food here, that's a problem. There are many details I could share about my experience, but I believe this is enough to urge the business to make necessary changes. First and foremost, they need to change the oil in their fryer and filter it daily. If Del Taco can do it, they can too. As for the food I ordered, the carne asada soft shell taco was a disappointment, with a terrible taste. The salsa was bland and watery, lacking any heat. The sour cream was stale, and the guacamole was unappetizingly brown. The rice, while flavorful, was overly salty. The enchiladas made me feel queasy for some reason. Perhaps they need to use a better cut of meat. This place has never disappointed me before, and their salsa used to be delicious. I hope they can improve their dishes and regain their former glory."

"We opted for the molcajete mixto and the queso birria. Both dishes arrived quickly and were served piping hot. The molcajete was brimming with delicious ingredients, including a satisfying amount of meat and shrimp nestled in the sauce. The grilled cheese slices included were fantastic—crispy, salty, and with a fun squeaky texture. I highly recommend trying the molcajete! As for the queso birria, I usually prefer the version made with goat, but Los Molcajetes uses beef, and it was still delightful. The exterior was nicely crunchy, while the interior was packed with tender meat and gooey cheese. Served alongside a cup of consomme for dipping, it made for a wonderful meal. Overall, we had a fantastic experience, and with such a diverse menu, we’re looking forward to returning!"

"I used to love this place. During the day it?s usually still alright but at night service takes a dive. For one at night time they only take cash, which is Weird. During the day I don?t have any trouble getting a water cup. At night, there isalways this dude wearing a beanie working the register. He never gives me a water cup and wants me to pay an extra $2.17. I?ve literally been standing there about to drop $4 on a cash tip when this kid tries to nickel and dime me for a smallstyrofoam cup. I end up not leaving a tip and going home to eat my food because I?m not paying for tap water. I used to havefond memories of getting adobada fries after a long night. Now it?s honestly not worth my time. I?ll only go here if I?mdesperate."

"The Line Begins Behind Me. Just when you think you figured it all out. . . someone throws you a curve. I thought I understood all about Mexican food. To me it all tastes pretty good. Some Mexican and Tex-Mex restaurants are better than others, and I guess there are few bad ones in North Texas but what fooled me was how great Los Molcajetes really is. I don't know what they do, but from the salsa and tortilla chips they serve at the table, to the entree it is magnificent. They serve two salsas a thin, rustic tomato-based pico de gallo type salsa which has a definite cilantro tang, and a piquant habanero salsa which comes in a smaller plastic cup. A little of this goes a long way. I had the mole enchiladas (see photo). Their version of this popular dish was great! They have about twenty different daily lunch specials. Curiously, I used to think that this restaurant was sort of fancy, but it is very casual with concrete floors, wooden tables and several televisions hanging throughout the main dining area. They also have a full bar. The food came out really fast too. The server remarked that after the lunch crowd the food preparation takes no time at all. What a surprise this was to find such a good restaurant in my neck of the woods. You learn something new everyday!"

"Art Basel weekend, full house, line out the door and the food was still amazing. I was already a drink or 2 in and not as hungry as I should have been but the food here was incredible. Most unique food I 've had in a while. We had reservations but I brought along a +1 so we had to wait just a little bit so we ordered a few drinks at the bar called the 'Spicy Shiso Sour ' and 'The Pollinator ' which has real bee pollen ‍. Our food was so good I honestly can 't wait to go back and try some more items on the menu. Make sure to go with a group so you can order a bunch of things and share!!"

"The food was good aside from it getting cold instantly, because the air conditioner was set on sub arctic. It was freezing inside, the couple next to us complained also . The stuff said that they could not turn it off. The cold ruined our lunch, definitely preventing us from eating here again"

"For order we had: 1) Fajitas for two 2) Salsa and Chips 3) Chili Con Queso with Brisket 4) Frozen Margaritas The Food 5 stars: The Fajitas were really well seasoned and had many tortillas. The variety of salsa was great! Oh, and the Margaritas were amazing! Service 3 stars: Service was attentive (although nothing outstanding), especially compared to other reviewers. We immediately had refills of drinks and chips and food was delivered quickly. The price 2 stars: Generally, a little at the height, but you get a lot of food for the price. For example, Fajita for Two was $32. The Vibes 4 stars: The restaurant is the quintessential Tex Mex with spacious stands and wonderfully decorated. Overall, up to 4 stars round. If you visit the local State Park down the road, you should stop after a walk and get some scrub."

"I would go 2.5 stars. The wife is adamant that it is a 2. I said a 3. So I split the difference. Positives: -the salsa is very flavorful and I liked it -the beef in the beef nachos is very well seasoned and delicious -the house frozen margaritas are very good, not at all a chemical taste -the beef taco was also very tasty and well-seasoned -the ambience is warm and friendly -service was good, no complaints Negatives: -the place needs a thorough cleaning, starting with the front door and going from there -the booster seat for the child was filthy. The wife wiped it down and the residue was pure black -the wife's flautas were soggy and greasy; the chicken was not seasoned and had no flavor -my chicken in the chicken enchilada had no flavor. Probably the same as in flats -the guacamole with the beef nachos was obviously old and had big black spots. It was a serving of guac that never should have come out of the kitchen. The fact that it was served reflects either indifference or unprofessionalism. -the small plates I asked for were dirty and had to be wiped clean by us To top it off, I had to listen to how our favorite Tex-Mex place is so much better in every way throughout the dinner. Step by step, item by item. The wife is right, of course, but Holy Frijoles could have been better which would have made my night a bit more enjoyable. This could be a hidden gem, but it needs to step it up to get to hidden gem status."

"I got the Desayuno Mexicano w/ a chocoflan and horchata for about $22 before tip. The place is tucked away in a mostly residential area and pretty unassuming in a small strip mall. There's a decent amount of parking, or at least there was for 3PM on a Tuesday. The interior is colorful with just some benches and tables, and the menu is extensive.The horchata was decent, but a little watered down. The breakfast was really good, flavor wise, but the eggs seemed a little dry like they'd been under a heat lamp. Otherwise, it was flavorful and fresh tasting. The chocoflan was the only real low part of the meal. It was dry and lackluster without any real flavor palate in either the cake or the flan portion. Super letdown.The man who took my order was nice, but the lady who gave it to me was sort of standoffish. She also forgot to give me my horchata but luckily I remembered before driving off 20 mins away."

"This charming little mom-and-pop restaurant has a lot of local character. The owners clearly take great pride in their food, and it shows! In my opinion, this is the best Mexican cuisine in the entire Charlotte area. Their flautas, enchiladas, and tacos are absolutely amazing. I highly recommend trying the shredded beef. The homemade tamales are a delightful surprise! We haven’t yet tried the shrimp tacos or fajitas that other reviewers have recommended, but they’re on our list. The prices are great too, and you can order everything à la carte. I highly recommend this place!"

"Relaxed meal on a Sunday morning. We were looking for a place to have breakfast within walking distance of downtown that was open and likely to have gluten free options. There is so much Mexican cuisine that is naturally gluten free so was the pick of the day. The food was great and there was plenty of it. The potatoes on the breakfast seemed to be boiled instead of fried, salted and peppered to excellence."
