"The food at this Chengdu Impression location is far and above that at the Wicker Park or Edgewater locations. Service was prompt and courteous despite being very busy when I was there. Parking can be a hassle since it's just off of Halsted Street and a bit of a hike from the nearest El Stops, but it's well worth it! I highly recommend the Twice Cooked Pork and the Sichuan Beef Noodle Soup. Beware, I was there when it was cold out and the constant flow of delivery drivers blew in the cold air and froze the whole restaurant. Not sure if the heat was off, but bring a sweater or be prepared to wear your winter coat to eat!"

"Visited here once before and got take out, and the food was amazing, so I vowed to return. Went on yesterday after a musical downtown and ate inside. The food did not disappoint again, so I was ecstatic about that. I ordered the vegetable noodles and vegetable rice, and my sister ordered the noodles with chicken. After her first 6 said, This is delicious. I ordered mine spicy, I like spicy, but it was very spicy, burn your mouth spicy. I 'd suggest getting the spicy sauce on the side. The food did not miss, and the complimentary pot of tea was a great plus. The staff were very courteous and attentive. Our bill was $33.00 for the two of us, can 't beat that, and they provided plenty of food, enough to take home. I noticed they had a lot of food delivery pickups, so they must be pretty popular. Highly recommendVegetarian options: I 'm vegetarian and they had several options."

"Craving for the most delicious dumpling in the Bay Area? This is the right place to go have it. We have been visiting this place for almost 4 years and we never get tired of coming here even though we have to commute for about 40 minutes. You will leave this place with that tasty flavor in your mouth. Service is awesome!. It's a family style little cozy restaurant and I really love that the waitress recognizes us every time we go there which means, they take customers seriously! I love their tea, it's yummy and generous! I would give this restaurant 10 stars if I could!!! Strongly recommend!"

"Came here for a Sunday lunch, and love the decor I saw when I stepped into the restaurant.I ordered the soup bao (xiao long bao), crispy bottom bao, chicken fried rice, beef flat noodle, and amazing fish. There were six soup baos in one order. The soup bao’s skin was quite thick but there was sufficient soup in the dumpling. The flavor was good. The crispy bottom bao’s skin was very thick. Though the flavor of the meat inside the bao was ok, the skin was dry and thick thus it was difficult to finish even one. The chicken fried rice didn’t have much flavor but the chicken was cooked right. The beef in the beef flat noodle was a little tough, and there was no flavor in the beef. The flat noodle was oily and lacked flavor. The best dish out of the dishes I ordered was the amazing fish. It was fried to perfection, and the spice level was perfect. It was a good dish.Though the food was so-so, my server was thoughtful and friendly. I appreciate the good service."

"millbrae is full of famous Chinese food, and this restaurant is one of the most rated at another place. this place is really special. easy to navigate what is vegan on the menu, and workers know what “vegan” means. eating was extraordinary! we enjoyed a nude dish, spicy kartoffels, green beans and a tofu dish. the green bevel pancakes are damped, but the sauce is not even vegetarian, so make sure they order them specifically for no sose ask."

"20 or more years now I believe that I have been coming here. Every time the food and service has been phenomenal. Not a single complaint in all these many years speaks for itself. I live within walking distance so one can imagine the frequency with which I frequent this restaurant and they are an absolute delight every time. By the by, Chinese food in general is not my favorite however this place certainly is and continues to sway my opinion towards the good. Fortunately House of Dumplings exists. Unfortunately they have ruined my chances of being happy with any other Chinese food restaurant. I’m still thinking this is a good conundrum being that House of Dumplings does indeed exist."

"Good dishes, but on the oilier and salty side, so I try to ask for less oil. Things I've tried: Thick Stir Fried Noodle Good chewy noodles with a touch of meat and veg. Beef With Green Bean Good amount of beef. Would have preferred more green beans as well. Special Fish Gluten The fish gluten are like large chewy tofu puffs and fun to eat. It is listed it as having pea shoots but it wasn't in season when I ordered, and they used a different vegetable. Yangzhou Style Shredded Beancurd this is actually a soup dish with a beancurd noodle. It was a decent dish but I probably wouldn't get it again."

"Absolutely a shock how good this place was. I was walking by around noon and it was packed with people eating mostly hotpot. I got ma po tofu, one of my favorites, and I was blown away. I've tried a couple other things and all of them were good, but that tofu haunts my dreams. Everyone is really nice and helpful! They serve you at the table if you dine in, and takeout is extremely quick and easy if not. HUGE portions, particularly if you order off the lunch specials. I will often get the ma po tofu lunch special to-go and have it last several days. This is the best Chinese food I've had since leaving LA. It was a pleasant surprise in the cultural wasteland that is Isla Vista."

"The pork bun was significantly undercooked, with raw, pink meat inside. The General Tso's Chicken consisted mostly of fatty pieces and had a very watery sauce. The taro bubble tea lacked any flavor. I would not recommend this place at all."
