"This is a hard review for me to write for my favorite restaurant so please bear with me.Today, we decided to have lunch at one of our favorite spots, Bayou Bar and Grill in Memphis a 60 mile drive. Our group consisted of three adults and four children (one of them a baby , making a total of seven. After informing the hostess of our party size, she told us there would be a 25 to 30 minute wait, taking our name and number for notification. We were fine with that and stepped back outside to wait. After half an hour of waiting, I went back in to check, and only then did I notice a sign on the door that read, “maximum party of six.” (The door was propped open when we first arrived so if the sign was there, it was covered. The hostess told me that the manager wouldn’t let her accommodate our group due to its size, despite not informing us when we checked in nor when she was told this even though she had our name and number. After questioning why they let us stand outside for 30 minutes without notifying us, she hesitantly and what I perceived to be slightly hatefully offered to make an exception “this one time.” We just left. If that’s their policy, that is fine but we should have been told and most definitely not allowed to wait 30 minutes. On the way out, we did notice other large parties of seven and eight seated on the patio so I’m not sure how that happened. ?This was truly a frustrating experience at what was our favorite restaurant in Memphis."
