"We called a little late in the week and were informed that there were no reservations available—totally our oversight. However, the staff suggested that if we arrived at the lounge by 4:30, we could push two tables together, something we've done several times before. Two members of our party arrived about five minutes before the rest of us and attempted to do just that. They were told it wasn't allowed, so they opted to sit at two separate tables until the rest of us showed up. When we all arrived, the manager was extremely aggressive, insisting we sit down immediately or she would take our tables away. She also reiterated that pushing the tables together was absolutely not an option. While we should have arrived together, her defensive demeanor when we showed up was unwarranted.
The rest of our meal was uncomfortable, as the general manager spent the entire time glaring and pointing at us, creating a very awkward atmosphere. Just because we didn’t have a reservation doesn’t mean our money isn’t valuable.
We ultimately sat at our separate tables and tried to make the best of it. However, the service we received was perplexing. One table, consisting of men, was treated like royalty, while the other, made up of women, received the worst service imaginable. In fact, the food and drink runners provided better service than our actual server, whose name I don’t even know, as he barely interacted with us and made snide comments instead. When the men at their table ordered bread, they only received it, while we did not receive any. When we politely asked for bread for our table, the server responded, “well, it’ll take 5-10 minutes.” When the bread finally arrived, he slammed it onto our table and said, “here.”
Throughout the evening, he focused on the men’s table, bringing them free drinks and engaging in conversation, while the women at our table felt completely ignored. We were left with empty drinks for most of the night, and whenever we requested water refills, he wouldn’t bring them. Other servers were more attentive to us than he was. On one occasion, while we were sitting without any drinks, he looked at our table and then went over to the men, who still had half-full drinks, to ask if they wanted another round. It wasn’t until about 5-10 minutes later that we were even asked about another drink.
There’s so much more I could say, but I realize this review is already quite lengthy. I can't quite understand why we were treated this way; it felt as though it was due to our youth and the fact that most of us were women. Perhaps our arrival not being simultaneous set a poor tone, but regardless, there’s no excuse for the treatment we received that evening. I’m determined to share my experience and let others know about it.
While the food and drinks were good, they didn’t make up for the overall experience."
