"Visited here for the first time with my husband and his cousin who was visiting NY. It was one of the few places that had available tables on a Friday night and took reservations. When we arrived we had to wait a few minutes for them to clear our table and the entire restaurant was super crowded. They did have glass partitions between tables but considering COVID-19 is airborne, those would do very little in terms of protection. Thankfully, we?re fully vaccinated. Our server was a real gem. She was so sweet and attentive. We had to yell everything across the table because it was sooooo loud! Turning the music down 10% would have made it more comfortable. When the mariachi band played, as fun and enjoyable as it was, the combination of that plus the music raised the noise levels to about 110 decibels. Workers should get their hearing tested. The food was alright. Nothing too special. Tostones were hard as rocks! Shrimp tacos were dry, overcooked, and flavorless. Chicken fajitas were bland. I actually ate the sides that accompanied my husband?s main course and didn?t touch my tacos again after 1 bite. The highlight of the night were the drinks. God damn they make a mean margarita! I tried the Willy?s Panchos margaritas. It was sooo strong but so delicious. This is definitely the place to go if you want great tasting and well-priced cocktails but don?t care too much about getting food. Everyone says the other locations are more spacious, perhaps I?ll try those next time."

"I hate being the skunk at the garden party but . . .Food was excellent, service was very, very good, they make their own tortillas . . . so why not five stars? It's the standard Mexican restaurant in America presentation. Rice, beans (cheese on top), and protein. I can't get away from it and there is no percentage rating to fall back on because truthfully this is only a quarter point issue for me but five stars is bigger statement than I am willing to make.FOR THE RECORD IF YOU ARE A FAN OF THE RICE AND BEANS PRESENTATION, CHEESE AND ALL, THEN THIS PLACE IS FIVE STARSNow down the menu.I love it when, if you are giving me chips, you bring out some beans as well. It allows me to check out the beans without anything distracting me. I love the fact that these clearly were in a large bag of dried beans before being prepared for the customers. You can taste the difference and individual places have individual methods and recipes but the beans are very, very good at Casa Tequila.I think most of us have go to dishes by which we gauge the quality of a restaurant. (i.e. it is almost impossible, as a sushi restaurant, to get five stars from me if you do not serve toro.)For Mexican restaurants, and for me, this is Chili Verde. I have a paradigmatic restaurant preparation against which all others are compared. Tender juicy pork in a sauce both savory and a little sweet, with a richness that explodes in the mouth. This place has it all. It was exactly what I was hoping for when I walked in.Their house made hot sauce (not quite habanero hot) was also delicious, with a seared chile flavor, and a good back of the mouth burn.I can't wait to bring the woman who lets me live with her (thanks Mike) to dinner some time and check out some of her favorites as well! House made tortillas complete the experience, fluffy and soft! Maybe I won't wait for her to get here and I'll just go get something else? If so, I'll let you know."

"It was in the evening of the National Margarita Day when my partner and I came here around 8pm. When you walked in, the place was packed full of people and you can hear everyone chatting away, laughing, and just having a great time. The vibe was great, you can just feel the love and the warmth walking in and greeted by smiles. We received nothing short of great service here with a friendly intimate atmosphere.Luckily there were two seats at the bar, we were happily greeted and so well taken care of right away. We received waters, chips and salsa while we perused the many great authentic menu offerings. The chips were thick and you can tell they were homemade (can't stand those chips that can't handle a dip and just break off), not overly salted, and the salsa was thick, very bright and flavorful. Of course we ordered the house margaritas right away first and they are up there with the best. Great mix of slightly sweet and not overpowering, good amount of alcohol content, just a gentle rim of salt, served in beautiful glass with a proper straw that isn't paper and a lime wedge.I settled on the Chile Relleno stuffed with steak. It came out in no time at all. They seem very efficient and have everything down to a science. the Chile still had its spice which paired so well to the thick and tender steak inside. I probably could have eaten two more at least it was beyond delicious. The black beans were so flavorful compared to other places where they can fall flat and be bland. The beans and guac come in these homemade tortilla cup bowls. It was very unique, something I've never seen before, and it makes sense not only for easier clean up but it adds a special touch to the presentation of the dish that highlights each portion and its not just all hodge podged together with ladels on a plate. Lots of care and love went into this dish and every dish, which is rare now a days in an age where things just get cranked out and they lose their quality and lack luster. This is definitely one of my new favorite spots and I look forward to coming here more often! I highly recommend this place if you are looking for a real authentic Mexican food restaurant experience that will take your taste buds on a journey from beginning to end!"
