"made reservations and were sat by the door when there were many tables open. :tipped the chef and also the that was included with the bill and the tip portion was left open on the receipt. Glad my husband caught this...or we would of tipped surprised the restaurant was not in better shape, seemed a little run down and after the pandemic closure, would of thought it would be pristine. "I must admit, I was snobby and skeptical about sushi in Bakersfield and JIN Sushi proved me wrong and I'm better for it! I'll come back and bring more people. If you visit Bakersfield, you need to try JIN Sushi. It is really good sushi, great ambience, friendly service and affordable prices! If you're from Bakersfield, what are you waiting for? You have a phenomenal sushi bar under your nose. I sat at the bar and our server was so knowledgeable and friendly and very efficient. It was also a busy night, but I still felt no gap in service quality. I tried Nigiri and Rolls and they were all amazing. Some of my favorites were the Mackerel Nigiri, the salmon roll and the Baked Scallop Roll. My only regret. 1. I did not record our server on a Blue Fin Tuna special for this day. Life is too short. I'll do it next time. 2. I didn't know there was House Sake (warm or cold) until I had already ordered a bottle. But it would have been nice to try Jin Sushi. 3. My stomach had no more space to try other things on the menu. Next time Jin, next time..."

"We showed up at 6pm on Saturday. There were 3 hibachi stations in use and 1 available but the lights were off. We were second in line. We weren 't seated for another 75 minutes, and they never turned the last station on. It took 45 minutes for them to take our order, bring drinks, and get our hibachi worker to the table. I would call him a chef except for the following: he dropped his utensils 3 times during the intro routine and it clearly wasn 't part of the routine, he dropped 3 of the 4 eggs and got shells all over the food not all of which were picked out, and the eggs, chicken, and shrimp were so overcooked that jerky would have been juicier. Two of us ordered the yakisoba noodles only to be served spaghetti noodles. For dessert, the waitress took super hot metal bowls right out of the dishwasher and put ice cream in them then spent 10 minutes walking around the restaurant letting it all melt while asking all the other workers if they knew where the spoons were. We were then served completely melted ice cream without anything do much as an apology. Finally, when they messed up our ticket, it took 3 workers 15 minutes to realize none of them knew how to work the computer and couldn 't get it right without deleting the whole order and starting over. We arrived at 6pm and left at 9:15 having spent nearly $100 for two people to eat overcooked food full of egg shells and melted ice cream. Do not patron this place! Lafayette has tons of other restaurants and this place does not deserve your money!"

"Went on a Saturday from a recommendation from a coworker. We got there before the big dinner crowd to avoid it being loud and taking forever. It didn't matter. Service was slow and lousy. The restaurant was not crowded. There were 4 sushi chefs, so it was not them holding things up. We had to ask several times for food that we ordered and never got. The 2 people taking orders were also bussing tables. Finally, it seemed that the manager came out to help, but it was too late.The food was tasty but not great. I think they were trying to get rid of the screaming O sauce because anything that came out with it was drowning in it. It was more like a salad dressing than anything else.Not a place I am looking to go back to. If they can't handle a pre-rush dinner crowd with just OK food, how bad will it be during a regular night with a crowded restaurant and tons of orders coming through."

"Pretty cool place. Our party of 4 had a booth. The food was excellent: I can see that you would have to visit many times before you got an idea of a favorite dish or set of sushi combinations. Considering this was my first visit to a Japanese restaurant in ~20 years, I was a little overwhelmed with the menu. So, order what someone else in your party is having!My only issue was the time it took to be served that might be because it was Saturday evening and it was full.Next time I go I'll remember to photograph the food."

"This sushi spot has become a family favorite! Our family has 4 vegans and 2 non-vegans, and we all leave happy—every visit. They always bring free Edamame to the table “on the house” upon arrival. I always get miso soup and cucumber salad, which is a huge order usually shared w/ hubby that is delicious. After the appetizer items, they also bring free vegetarian egg-rolls “on the house.” Then, I always order vegetable rolls of some sort. Our non-vegan child gets other sushi rolls. They also offer free cheesecake squares for dessert that we decline. All in all, we always leave full happy. We also appreciate that the restaurant is clean and quiet, providing a relaxing meal."

"My boyfriend and I went out for a Saturday date night and discovered AMAEBI. The restaurant was almost empty, which initially worried us for a weekend night, but we prefer quieter places anyway so it was not a problem. We sat at the sushi bar and tried two rolls and some sashimi. The sashimi was incredibly fresh and tasty, especially the yellowtail. The chef even treated us to a complimentary bite of torched salmon sashimi with a special sauce, which was absolutely delicious. With reasonable prices and delicious food, I am definitely planning to return."

"I was with a group of employees on a Tuesday while we were on work. it has some cure decoration inside. it was empty what could be expected for a Tuesday. I don't know them. the waitress brought us free edamame to start. we all ordered drinks and some of us ordered some of the steamed and fried gyozas to start as appetizers. the appetizers tasted good. good presentation and good amount(6) of gyozas for a starter. we ordered 2-3 sushi rolls. probably a bit too much haha, but we were on a job trip. I ordered the lover role and a garnelentempura roll. the lover role had spicy thunfish and avocado. they were both really good taste, quality, quality wise. the waitress also brought some two free spring roll beakers with our rolls and three pieces free cheesecake after we finished our escapes."

"The only complaint was the oysters were very tiny with too much of a salty taste. They were not very good at all in comparison with many other restaurants of lower quality service. "I've had this place marked on my Google maps for several months as a place I want to go but since I'm not a morning person it did take quite a bit to finally get up and go. I have to say I was pleasantly surprised. Not only were the doughnuts HUGE and delicious, but the customer service was above and beyond. I told the man behind the desk it was our first time there and he gave us a warm welcome and explained all the unique doughnuts. Very patient as well. My son who has autism was fixated on finding a superhero doughnut. I kept trying to tell my son they only have what is out there. Without me noticing your worker made him a batman doughnut and my son was delighted. Thank you so much for helping him find the perfect doughnut and helping stop a potential meltdown from my son not finding the right one. I hope the owner reads this and finds out who it was (sorry I didn't get a name) but that was absolutely amazing! He deserves some recognition. I've never had a favorite doughnut shop till now. You probably made me a little bit more of a morning person lol. You will be seeing us again."

"My husband got a roll that was battered and fried but the breading was far too thick. You had to chew the breading more that the sushi. We also ordered spicy rolls and nothing had spice. It was all so bland. The spring roll they gave us were ok, way too filled though, and that's saying something because I love spring rolls. The edamame was cold, not sure if that's the usual because we usually get the warm from other places. We ordered 3 rolls and didn't even finish them, we ended up taking a to-go box because the woman who was not our waitress asked us multiple times if everything was ok, we felt obligated to take it with us. Honestly the almost 60 dollars we spent could have been better."

"Ghetto. It's in the ghetto. My wife was harrassed by some thug. He was hitting on her. My wife is a modest 45 year old woman who knitts. She was knitting in the car and this guy (with his two very large friends who were smoking pot in their ghetto blacked out Mercedez SUV next to my car) was staring at her for several minutes, and as she got into the drivers seat to park somewhere else, the playa started waiving at her. My 12 year old son is in the car as this is happening. The rocket scientists were smoking weed in their car. It took 30 minutes to order and get my food, 2 burgers and two nacho fries. The fries were soggy and literally drenched with the nacho cheese sauce, way too much sauce. My burger was bland. My son really liked his burger. I threw away the fries. Best part was the price, less than $20, can't beat that. The employees are super friendly and I really appreciated them. Don't bring your wife and children here if they're not urban acclimated."

"THE ABSOLUTE WORST!!!! I knew something was off from the beginning. This was the worst experience ever!! I ordered crazy volcano with cream cheese. This is one of my favorite rolls anywhere else. But today it was HORRIBLE!!! The roll tasted old, as if it was prepared days ago, then deep fried. The cream cheese was just a dollop on top of the roll like it was sour cream or something just smh. But the worst part was the horrible service by the lady at the register. She was rude and she was mean from the start. But I ignored it bc maybe there is a language barrier, so I ordered. I took my food to the car as I was killing time between appointments. First bite gross and tough. The second I damn near threw up. Went inside to tell her, and the theatrics began. When I told her it was bad, she started screaming. Then she started crying, saying she was sad and she couldn't return my money. She walked off several times. But I waited, and she continued to cry and scream. Finally, the chef(I guess) came and said something to her. She was mad and still crying. We exchanged words bc at this point, I'm cussing you out!!!! I need my money. I got it!! NEVER GO THERE IT IS HORRIBLE WITH HORRIBLE SERVICE !!!!!"
