"We were in town for a Training Conference and this was such a great find and super close to our hotel! The waitress was super friendly and sweet. The atmosphere was calm and welcoming. I got the chicken ramen. So full of flavor and delicious. Their ThaiTea was delicious and I loved the bubbles I them. (If you don't like bubble tea then I would ask they don't put them in). Sushiwas amazing as well as the spring rolls (not pictured because we ate them so fast lol). She brought us cheesecake bites withchocolate chips that were sooooo delicious as well!"

"My brother took me to this sushi restaurant, and I had never visited it before. He had spoken highly of the place, and now I understand why. Everything was excellent—the quality of the food, the service, the flavors, and the atmosphere. The restroom was spotless, and our server was both professional and friendly. I especially enjoyed the calamari rings and the lobster popcorn. I’ll definitely be returning!"

"A 2 star experience from start to finish.The line was incredibly slow with their POS systems freezing intermittently. The staff was defensive and didn’t know how to run my gift card. My sandwich needed reconstruction before eating. The muffin was stale and the beyond sausage was chewy.Coffee was OK. I much prefer the Carmel mountain location."

"I have mixed feelings about Yamachen's, because the service was impeccable, as was the set up for takeout. We ordered a beautiful array of sushi to take to the beach for a sunset picnic and had high expectations to the stellar reviews on Yelp. We ordered a few specialty rolls, some nigiri sushi, and a spicy yellowtail roll. In addition, we ordered gyoza.The way they packaged all of the items was fabulous. I've never had such care given to the setup for a takeout order. High quality trays with pockets for soy sauce, super high end chopsticks and napkins, each tray labeled with the items within. For that and the service via phone, I applaud this place and would give it another try.Food-wise, none of the sushi WOWed us. My favorite was my spicy yellowtail roll, which had nice chunks of fresh yellowtail and perfectly ripe avocado. I also liked the salmon nigiri. The dream roll was delicious, but I got quite a few bites of crab shell, which was a turnoff so I didn't finish that roll and it felt like a waste of money. In addition, the rolls and nigiri with tuna tasted off. I thought it was just me, but my friend also mentioned something so we both skipped the rest of those pieces.The gyoza was delicious, specifically the sauce served with it and the complimentary spring rolls may have been the best spring rolls i've ever had."

"On the hunt for sushi and this was not good. Yes there is a lot of free food offered including, luke warm edamame to start, luke warm springs rolls doused in eel sauce and spicy mayo at dinner and pre frozen cheesecake bites with the check.But for spending $20 on sushi I was hoping it wasn't a pre made and plated affair. I could not finish my food because of the stale squishy rice and questionable texture of the fish and all doused with mayo.My husband's yakisoba took all of two minutes to produce and looked like it came off of a holding table at a buffet. It was clearly noodles that had prepackaged pre grilled chicken and some random veggies tossed on top for $16.Over all it took less than twenty minutes to walk in, sit, eat and leave. And we will likely never be back"

Also the standard model of available fish such as albacore, yellow tail belly, blue fin tune etc not being available was disheartening. "I had a delightful lunch experience at this restaurant! The food was outstanding, earning a perfect score of 5 out of 5. I highly recommend trying the Onion Soup and Ginger Salad, as well as the Sushi Rolls and Sashimi Lunch Appetizer Sampler. The Clear Soup was also a great addition to the meal. The service was impeccable, which also deserves a 5 out of 5. The staff was attentive and friendly, making my dining experience even more enjoyable. The atmosphere was pleasant and inviting, scoring a solid 4 out of 5. Overall, for a price range of $10–20 per person, this place offers fantastic value for an excellent meal. "Out of everything we ordered, some things were unavailable (understandable) but even after the waiter confirmed my ordered items many dishes never showed up even though we were not told that they were out of the dish. Overall received maybe 30% of the dishes we ordered. Didn't even get the marble soda I ordered even though it requires absolutely no preparation. Fish quality was good but didn't make it outstanding enough to come back after this experience."

"I absolutely adore this restaurant! The atmosphere is soothing and elegant. The staff is incredibly friendly and attentive. But the food...oh my goodness. It is absolutely scrumptious. I tried the yellow curry and it was amazing. Probably the best I've ever had, and I've even tried it in London. The portion size was just right and the price was reasonable. My friend had sushi and also enjoyed it. Black Ginger is situated opposite the old J&S cafeteria, where there used to be a Mexican restaurant. I will definitely be returning soon."
