"made reservations and were sat by the door when there were many tables open. :tipped the chef and also the that was included with the bill and the tip portion was left open on the receipt. Glad my husband caught this...or we would of tipped surprised the restaurant was not in better shape, seemed a little run down and after the pandemic closure, would of thought it would be pristine. BUT our children loved it and it is their new favorite place....food was good and the chef was entertaining.."

"Made a quick stop in Bakersfield. I’m not from the area. Looked up a sushi spot and seen this restaurant with great reviews. We got seated quickly and was later notified of “happy hour menu”. We’re a family of 6 and the food was given to us in a timely manner. Long story short, who ever ate sushi got sick. Only the kiddos didn’t (they chicken teriyaki and rice). "We showed up at 6pm on Saturday. There were 3 hibachi stations in use and 1 available but the lights were off. We were second in line. We weren 't seated for another 75 minutes, and they never turned the last station on. It took 45 minutes for them to take our order, bring drinks, and get our hibachi worker to the table. I would call him a chef except for the following: he dropped his utensils 3 times during the intro routine and it clearly wasn 't part of the routine, he dropped 3 of the 4 eggs and got shells all over the food not all of which were picked out, and the eggs, chicken, and shrimp were so overcooked that jerky would have been juicier. Two of us ordered the yakisoba noodles only to be served spaghetti noodles. For dessert, the waitress took super hot metal bowls right out of the dishwasher and put ice cream in them then spent 10 minutes walking around the restaurant letting it all melt while asking all the other workers if they knew where the spoons were. We were then served completely melted ice cream without anything do much as an apology. Finally, when they messed up our ticket, it took 3 workers 15 minutes to realize none of them knew how to work the computer and couldn 't get it right without deleting the whole order and starting over. We arrived at 6pm and left at 9:15 having spent nearly $100 for two people to eat overcooked food full of egg shells and melted ice cream. Do not patron this place! Lafayette has tons of other restaurants and this place does not deserve your money!"

"The good the restaurant is clean and the decor is really nice. the staff is kind and curtious. seating was quick. The not so good The service is extremely slow. We were a party of 3 and we had 3 all you can eat (at a little over $28.00 a person). Our stay was close to 2 hours due to extremely slow service with both the beverages and the food. We would order no more than 5 items at the most at a time and at one point we waited approximately 35 min for a iteration of food. It was very frustrating dealing with this. Qe thought that maybe the restaurant was busy but it was not busy at all, it was a very manageable amount of guest and should of not taken that long. The food is not worth the price. The sushi is not that good considering a nearly $30 price tag for an all you can eat. I would highly suggest going somewhere else with a little more prestige and notaritary to it if you 're going to pay that price for sushi. The sushi came out very lack luster in presentation, taste and construction. The sushi would come out over battered for fried rolls, luke warm for baked rolls and not rolled for regular rolls (see the pictures). Again, go somewhere else if you 're going to pay these prices for sushi. I 'm not the type to bash a restaurant just to bash a restaurant (see other reviews ive left). If the food, service or cleanliness is bad,it 's just bad. I will not be visiting this restaurant again and won 't suggest it to anyone else."

"Pretty cool place. Our party of 4 had a booth. The food was excellent: I can see that you would have to visit many times before you got an idea of a favorite dish or set of sushi combinations. Considering this was my first visit to a Japanese restaurant in ~20 years, I was a little overwhelmed with the menu. So, order what someone else in your party is having!My only issue was the time it took to be served that might be because it was Saturday evening and it was full.Next time I go I'll remember to photograph the food."

"This sushi spot has become a family favorite! Our family has 4 vegans and 2 non-vegans, and we all leave happy—every visit. They always bring free Edamame to the table “on the house” upon arrival. I always get miso soup and cucumber salad, which is a huge order usually shared w/ hubby that is delicious. After the appetizer items, they also bring free vegetarian egg-rolls “on the house.” Then, I always order vegetable rolls of some sort. Our non-vegan child gets other sushi rolls. They also offer free cheesecake squares for dessert that we decline. All in all, we always leave full happy. We also appreciate that the restaurant is clean and quiet, providing a relaxing meal."

"My friend and I went out for a Saturday night and fell in love with AMAEBI. The restaurant was almost empty, which made us nervous for a weekend, but we like it anyway not crowded places and it turned out that there was no big deal. We sat at the sushi bar and enjoyed two reels and some sashimi. The Sashimi was fresh and tasty – especially the yellow tail. The cook even gave us a free bite of salmon-sashimi that he tore the top and there was a kind of sauce on and it was so delicious. With affordable prices and delicious food I definitely go back."

"Went out for our anniversary dinner and decided upon this place. We like places that are tucked away and definitely new to us. We're not a couple that likes attention, so we definitely didn't advertise our occasion. Service was amazing, sushi was delicious, and the staff was super kind. "The service and ambiance here was excellent. The menu was very well rounded. We got filet mignon and Royal Red Shrimp to share with salads, sauteed garlic mushrooms and baked potato. There were baskets of a variety of breads and two kinds of butter. Truffles were provided at the end of the meal. It was a beautiful dining experience!"

"I've had this place marked on my Google maps for several months as a place I want to go but since I'm not a morning person it did take quite a bit to finally get up and go. I have to say I was pleasantly surprised. Not only were the doughnuts HUGE and delicious, but the customer service was above and beyond. I told the man behind the desk it was our first time there and he gave us a warm welcome and explained all the unique doughnuts. Very patient as well. My son who has autism was fixated on finding a superhero doughnut. I kept trying to tell my son they only have what is out there. Without me noticing your worker made him a batman doughnut and my son was delighted. Thank you so much for helping him find the perfect doughnut and helping stop a potential meltdown from my son not finding the right one. I hope the owner reads this and finds out who it was (sorry I didn't get a name) but that was absolutely amazing! He deserves some recognition. I've never had a favorite doughnut shop till now. You probably made me a little bit more of a morning person lol. You will be seeing us again."

"Great service and sushi here in Yama Chens Sushi Bar/Lynnhaven Mall location. I am very selective about the quality of my sushi and Yama not disappointed. I like that the tuna and salmon rolls have fresh fish, and it doesn't taste like left-over meat/attacks from the night before. Prices are average here, for excellent quality sushi. I am now officially a regular customer and order here every week. Great customer service from all employees. 10/13/22. I still love Yamaking Sushi. I always take out, so I can't vouche for a meal in experience. To get out, YamaChen Sushi is excellent, and the only bad topics I've read are the volcanic rolls that come out too greasy (I wouldn't know because I wouldn't order volcanic rolls). Give them an attempt when you are someone who is picky about their quality of sushi. ...but if you are a volcano roller lover, don't ask em to make em so greasy, and see what you get. Look..."

"Wow. Talk about a solid amazing old school burger place! There is nothing quite like this place in my experience, some similar places but this is a really special local joint. We each had a special, cheeseburger fries and a shake. Then also some onion rings. And a polish dog for later! Sauces we got were ranch and bbq. We stood in line for a while, I was like dang! There were people in a long line for like at least an hour while we were there, now I know why. The food is old school burger style and outstanding in terms of flavor and quality! Buns were fresh and soft, the beef tasted fresh, the sauce on the burger was delicious, and the veggies tasted fresh. The fries and onion rings were perfectly cooked, and the onion rings were kinda like Burger King but much better. The polish dog was fantastic! Lovely spices. The shakes, my goodness. I have tasted homemade super quality stuff, and this is it! Their homemade soft serve is top notch!!! The dining room could use a little work, there was a fly buzzing around even though it was relatively clean, that was the only negative part of my experience here."

"THE ABSOLUTE WORST!!!! I knew something was off from the beginning. This was the worst experience ever!! I ordered crazy volcano with cream cheese. This is one of my favorite rolls anywhere else. But today it was HORRIBLE!!! The roll tasted old, as if it was prepared days ago, then deep fried. The cream cheese was just a dollop on top of the roll like it was sour cream or something just smh. But the worst part was the horrible service by the lady at the register. She was rude and she was mean from the start. But I ignored it bc maybe there is a language barrier, so I ordered. I took my food to the car as I was killing time between appointments. First bite gross and tough. The second I damn near threw up. Went inside to tell her, and the theatrics began. When I told her it was bad, she started screaming. Then she started crying, saying she was sad and she couldn't return my money. She walked off several times. But I waited, and she continued to cry and scream. Finally, the chef(I guess) came and said something to her. She was mad and still crying. We exchanged words bc at this point, I'm cussing you out!!!! I need my money. I got it!! NEVER GO THERE IT IS HORRIBLE WITH HORRIBLE SERVICE !!!!!"

"My brother took me to this sushi restaurant, and I had never visited it before. He had spoken highly of the place, and now I understand why. Everything was excellent—the quality of the food, the service, the flavors, and the atmosphere. The restroom was spotless, and our server was both professional and friendly.
