"The biggest disappointment was the wine, particularly its temperature. While it's understandable for a regular restaurant to have some discrepancies, a wine bar should be on point. Unfortunately, the red wines were served too warm. While they can be served at slightly elevated temperatures, they shouldn't exceed the typical indoor temperature of around 75 degrees in Houston. They felt warm both to the touch and on the palate. The Sauvignon Blanc was somewhat chilled, but the Pinot Noir (best served at 60-65 degrees) and the Beaujolais (which thrives at 56 degrees) were both well into the 70s, making them less enjoyable.
The cheese selection was quite limited and average. The Gouda was rather bland, and the Manchego was nearly flavorless. I was also looking forward to a hearty crab cake (you only get one with the appetizer), but it turned out to be more bready and reminiscent of a product you might find at Costco. The pepperoni flatbread had little flavor and was rather forgettable. Although the salmon was cooked nicely, the balsamic glaze paired with overly dried figs was excessively sweet.
With a smaller menu, it should be easier to execute dishes well. I believe they could refine several items to significantly enhance the overall dining experience. I truly hope they consider making these improvements!"
