"Starting with the ramen, I found the broth to be disappointing. It had a predominantly ginger and green onion flavor, with the typical soy sauce essence that I expect from a shoyu ramen absent. It felt more like we were served a basic pork broth without the distinctive tweaks that make each ramen dish stand out. Additionally, the roasted pork slices were excessively overcooked, rendering them tough and dry, with little to no flavor. In fact, you can see in the attached photo how the pork's texture suffered.
The Chashu Don was moderately okay. Marketed as a mini donburi, it felt more like a simple snack—just some pork on white rice with a drizzle of sauce. It reminded me of something you might throw together at home with leftovers. While there's nothing fundamentally wrong with that approach given the lower price, it was surprisingly light. However, it too featured heavily overcooked pork, and the sauce had an unexpected spiciness that my son did not enjoy. A note about the heat level on the menu would have been helpful.
Lastly, the Curry Croquette was quite good. It served as a pleasant appetizer with mild curry flavors in a crispy fried patty of mashed potatoes. I would definitely order it again, but as a side dish, it wasn't enough to salvage the overall experience. Given that the focus of a ramen meal should ideally be the ramen itself, I don’t think the sub-$10 price for the shoyu ramen justified the lack of flavor."
