"I've always been a huge fan of the Flowood location. My grandparents and I frequently visit the Crossgates restaurant, but I've noticed a significant decline in quality over the past couple of years, which really disappoints me. I hate to say anything negative about El Sombrero, but I wonder if the franchise has changed owners? I’m not sure. However, the salsa has transformed into an overly peppery, marinara-like liquid that’s just not the same.
Whenever I order steak—whether it’s in tacos al carbon, steak quesadillas, fajitas, or burritos—the meat is consistently overcooked to the point of being crunchy. I'm not exaggerating; it really is like that every time. Recently, I've also noticed that the bottom of the plate often has at least a quarter-inch of grease.
Additionally, if you order to go, it can take a ridiculously long time to be ready, even when there are only one or two diners in the restaurant. And there’s an older lady behind the counter when you walk in; she’s friendly and never rude, but she often spends her time on her phone, watching Facebook videos at a loud volume. This becomes quite frustrating when you’ve been waiting in the lobby for 15 to 20 minutes, wondering if they’ve forgotten about you. When I ask her if everything is alright, she simply says yes, reassures me that the food will be out soon, and then goes right back to her videos."
