"In general White Sands is just ok, but over priced. We stayed in the building across the street from the beachfront building. Room is a bit dated with older furniture and carpeting. No USB outlets. Large flat scree TV though. The mattress was very old, hard and the most uncomfortable bed I have ever had to try to sleep on. I have actually been more comfortable on a pull out couch mattress. Wish they had free coffee in the lobby, since the only place you can get your morning coffee is at their café across the street, or a few blocks to the boardwalk, otherwise you have to drive. The area is mostly residential. The indoor pool/spa was in our building. The sauna 's original heater is still there and connected but does not work, so they added another heater in the in the corner. You will need to turn it on and wait 20 30 min for it to get up to temp. There were some loose boards inside. Could really use an overhaul. The steam room worked great though. The gym was OK. It took me a while to find how to turn on the Jacuzzi. There is an unlabeled timer dial on the wall, on the other side of the indoor pool near the sauna that turns it on. Very inconvenient. The only food we got from their café ' was some chicken fingers and fries for $14 which was nothing special, so I can 't comment on the rest of the menu. There was a bar located off the lobby in out building but we never went in. They do provide beach/pool towels, which was nice. The staff are mostly friendly and helpful, Parking was ample, but we were there from Sunday though Wednesday, so probably more crowded on weekends. Beach access was included otherwise $15 per day per person. Since it is there beach, alcohol consumption was OK, not like the rest of the beach. If you got to the beach before the lifeguards got there or left for the day you need to go through the pool area to get to and from the beach because the gate is closed from the street. There are two other places to stay next door that I would like to try next, but I don 't believe they include beach access, so you need to factor that in to the cost."
