"So I walked into Pop's on Jamaica Avenue in Woodhaven the other day And much has changed. Been coming here for almost 20 years but haven't been here for a few. Sadly they've removed a lot of the beautiful wood although some remains. The old fountain counter is gone, As are the booths and other seating to be replaced by elegant tables And a bar. I have to say it makes a cute little restaurant, although I do miss the old Pop's. The food was good. This is no greasy spoon. It's a step above diner food, but with the ambience of a somewhat classy restaurant. The new Pop's is a nice place for couples or families to dine; or to dine alone as I was."

"Most of the staff were friendly, but service was slow due to the busy NYE night. Some tables waited 35-40 minutes for their appetizers before us. The food arrived relatively quickly for us, but the drinks took some time. The staff appeared overwhelmed, so we understood the delay. Unfortunately, the lobster salad I ordered was inedible and came with dressing despite my request for it on the side. The lobster was overcooked and unpleasant, so I had to send it back. Although offered a replacement dish, I opted to share the overcooked paella. The salad was removed from our bill, but a 20% gratuity was added for 2 diners, which the server claimed was standard for NYE. Though skeptical, we didn't want to cause a scene and just paid the bill of nearly $200 for the two of us. Perhaps the food and service are better on non-holiday nights."

"Today is the 11th August 2022, and the temperatures are broken, so it is just like 85 degrees, but it is still warm woman and I go from Kew gardens directly from the last call bar village diner down to mi casa. It is night before it is very nice friendly sometimes the language differences English and Spanish my Spanish is not so good to cause problems, but we always had great food there today had a Cuban my wife had some chicken meal is great my wife also Trace Leches cake. I have the latest places in a few photos back a great place to go a cave. When we went into the door, was open and the air conditioning was not on them it turned in while we were there, but it was quite warm to begin. This is one of these things when you deal with a small place and I have a smile on my face cuz they are really good."

"I visited around 2:30 PM and inquired if the buffet would have fresh food. I was assured it would. However, once I sat down, I noticed the food was cold. I informed the waiter, who was chatting with the only other occupied table in the restaurant. He checked the buffet and told me, "No ma'am, it's hot." I went back to verify for myself, only to find the rice hard, the fish lukewarm, and the chicken cold and tough. I only managed to eat one plate. I also tried a small portion of another dish, but it was extremely lukewarm to cold as well. I brought this to the waiter’s attention, and also asked to speak with a manager to express my dissatisfaction and concern. Unfortunately, no one has returned my call. For a $14 meal and a $4 tip for poor service, I learned a valuable lesson: I won't be coming back."

"I visited this restaurant hoping to try their food, but unfortunately, the staff seemed indifferent and reluctant to serve. No one asked if I wanted to place an order, and I kept receiving strange looks. However, as soon as three Spanish customers walked in, the workers immediately greeted them and asked for their orders, as if I wasn't there first. This wasn't a one-time occurrence, and honestly, I won’t stand for that, especially when there are plenty of other better Spanish restaurants in the area. I've seen multiple reviews claiming the staff has biases against Black customers, and based on my experience, I believe them!"

"Friday, September 27, 2023 @1:00 pm The higher the clouds, the finer the weather and indeed it was. My daughter Brandy and I were looking for a place to have lunch in the Inwood section of Manhattan and she chose this restaurant. Iiana, was the only waitress at this time and she had several other tables to wait on, yet she didn't fail to check and see how everything was and if we needed anything else. Brandy's dish was the chicken scampi with linguine. The menu says shrimp scampi, but she requested chicken instead. I had chicken francaise with linguine, seasoned with garlic and oil. Both dishes were good. "When I arrived to collect my order, it was quite crowded. I managed to get someone’s attention and informed him that I had an Uber Eats order. He asked to see the app, which confused me because usually, they just ask for my name. I showed him my receipt in the app, but he continued to demand to see the app aggressively while attending to other customers, causing me to lose my place in line. I was in a difficult situation, managing a baby in a stroller and just trying to pick up my order and leave. I opened the Uber app again and showed it to him, hoping he would guide me through the process, but he didn't. Aside from the receipt and my government ID, I wasn't sure what else he needed. Instead of helping, he grew increasingly impatient and shooed me away, telling me to just take the food. It was frustrating to feel treated differently compared to others, especially when I noticed another customer who was Hispanic received her order without any issue. I confronted him about the unfair treatment, but he insisted he needed to see the app to put the order into the system, insisting on an unnecessary requirement. The order already showed as completed; all I could provide was my ID and receipt. I felt I deserved the same respectful service as everyone else. It was even more frustrating that another online order behind me was handled quickly without any fuss. I plan to contact Uber Eats to clarify what is actually required for a pickup besides the usual name, ID, and receipt. To make matters worse, it seems that some employees tend to drink on the job after 1 PM, which impacts their ability to take orders correctly. I've had trouble understanding them over the phone because their speech is so slurred. It's hard to believe this employee could not comprehend my simple request for my online order after I stated my name. It felt as if he was looking for information like a Social Security number, which is absolutely ridiculous. Overall, this experience was terrible."

"I tried the Mini Combo with Boneless Chicken Chunks, Rice, Beans, and a free soda. While it's advertised as "Chicharrón de Pollo," it’s really just chicken tenders. However, the Chicken and Cheese Turnover was fantastic—definitely a 10 out of 10! It was very flavorful, and everything was packaged nicely."

"This place I thought it was a great place to get some but unfortunately I was wrong. I ordered food with my family on Saturday night and I was double charged for the same nasty food and when I went up there with proof the manager so he called himself was argumentative and aggressive about not giving me the refund that was over due. I will never come back here or my family there not honest and the manager is very racist and has no respect I speak English if I come in with an issue with your place of business it should be handled properly and professionally I am speaking to the manager and instead of dealing with me in the language I speak there speaking there language which is also rude and unprofessional there is no customer service etiquette. I recommend just finding a new place to get food with better service."

"Every time I visit this restaurant, I stick to the roast pork with red beans and orange rice. I've sampled a few other dishes, but none compare to the roast pork, which is incredibly juicy and tender. The owner, a larger gentleman who is always present, has never greeted me with a smile, but the servers are usually quite friendly. In terms of the food options available in the neighborhood, this place is a staple for me. By the way, I'm fairly certain the cuisine is Dominican rather than Spanish."

"The authentic Dominican cuisine at this restaurant is incredibly delicious. We tried the breakfast (Desayuno), beef empanadas, and Papa relleno, and all of the dishes were served piping hot and extremely tasty! The empanadas were generously filled with beef, making them even more satisfying. I was truly impressed by the quality of the food."

"It was nice to try the food out from here. I've never had any of what I got before. I ordered delivery and got the sajhomafongo, the oxtails, and the morir sonando. I really enjoyed the sajhomafongo. They give you a big portion of it too. The oxtails were good, but I felt disappointed by the low amount of meat that you get with it. I guess that's maybe also the nature of the tails though; they don't have that much meat in the tails. They give a bunch of rice with the oxtails, but it wasn't particularly to my liking. I did like the drink, though, the morir sonando. If I had just ordered the oxtails, I'd probably given it a 2, whereas, if I hadn't, I'd probably given it a 4, so that's why I decided to go with a 3."
