"We were staying at the Holiday Inn nearby. My wife ordered Thai food from a restaurant on the same street and had me walk down the hill to pick it up for her. I wasn't in the mood for Thai and decided to pick something up from Bamboo. I was glad I did. I walked in and looked at their lunch menu. I ordered a combination lunch special... Kung Pao Chicken, Orange Chicken, and white rice. I could have had chow mein or fried rice instead of white rice. Based on how great the food tasted, I regret not getting it with chow mein, . The lunch special even came with and egg roll and soup (egg drop soup or hot sour soup). Unlike back home, they even gave the soup when getting take out. This was a nice surprise. I chose the hot sour soup. I had no complaints about any of my choices. All were delicious. The Kung Pao looked a little different than I am used to, it was tender sliced chicken and I am used to chucks or cubes of chicken. It had a very good sauce and I like it a lot. The Orange chicken was wonderful. It also looks a bit different than I am used to as the sauce was a little dark and it had thin slices of orange peel nested in the sauce. None the less, it was great., maybe the best I ever had. The egg roll was still crisp when I got it back to the room. And the soup was pretty good. A nice touch was a big wedge of orange in the container. They gave me two fortune cookies and two sets of plastic wear. An added bonus, I was served tea while waiting for my order. The place is small and not a fancy place, but the tea gave this place a touch of class. The price was very reasonable too. In short... I was very happy I went to Bamboo. If I had another day in San Francisco, I would have probably gotten food from here again. But would have tried the chow mein with the lunch special. The walk back up the hill was the only thing I didn't enjoy about this excursion. I am old, out of shape, and not built for hills."

"Be prepared because this might be a long review. Okay, me and my family of 7 adults and 4 children came in to celebrate my sister 's birthday. We asked them if they do all you can eat and they said yes. Okay, cool. We all sit down and we agree to the AYCE and begin ordering. We order about 5 plates of sushi and 1 order of fried rice for the kids. Next thing you know our server brings 4 plates of dumplings and a couple of bowls of edamame. We tell her, we didnt order it and she said its on the house from chef. We were confused but said okay. She then comes with more plates of dumplings and we ask her to stop because we didn 't order it. We sat there waiting for our sushi and it took about 35 minutes to bring out our 1 plate. 15 minutes later, the next one came. Because of how slow the service was, we made a big order for the next one so we dont have to keep waiting. The next order came aftee 30 minutes again. We were trying not to complain because we saw they were short staffed. And then we ordered again. As my brother was walking out with my sister, the head of the restaurant told them that because of us, they have to shut down the restaurant because they can 't serve all of us. He even told next time you guys come, we will have to deny you guys because of how many you guys are! Wait what? DISCRIMINATION! My older brother and sister gave him a piece of our mind and he did not apologize. He just shrugged and acted like we were the problem. But hold up, I didnt add the other petty things this man did. When he came around the table, i tried to be courteous and gather the plates and stack it for him and he goes Can you please not stack that? Because its hard for me to take it? And then when my sister lifted her glass for him to take to refill, he told her please put it on the table and then ill take it This asian man, looks like the head or manager of the restaurant was giving off this weird racist vibes since we got there. The fact he even blamed us that they have t9 close the restaurant because of our orders just shows how incompetent they are to run a business. Oh btw, we were the only family there for a good 2 hours so I dont know why it took so long for them to make our sushi. Please don 't go to this restaurant especially if you are of color. Just horrible!!!"

"Sometimes, the best meals are the ones you weren’t expecting to have. My wife and I had hoped to check out a new all you can eat sushi place, but both it and the existing AYCE spot had lines out the door. After placing a call to Little Tokyo to confirm they too weren’t filled to capacity, we headed there for our sushi fix, and it made me regret not having visited sooner. Little Tokyo boasts a pleasant, relaxing ambiance that made it a welcome refuge from the night’s rather intense rain. The menu here is Japanese (sushi, sashimi, hibachi, etc. albeit with some Korean and Chinese influences. The selection of sushi rolls is extensive, and quite a few of them sounded intriguing. Admittedly, the Italian (a California roll topped with white fish, tomato sauce, and cheese was a bridge too far even for me. My wife and I came hungry and went with two apps (steamed dumplings and vegetable gyoza , four rolls, and two misos. The food was, across the board, quite good. Whereas some miso can blast you with salt, Little Tokyo’s broth benefitted from an underlying richness. Our sushi was beautifully plated and tasted fresh. Of the rolls we tried, the Bulgoki (beef, crab, cucumber, and eel sauce was my favorite. Prices here are reasonable for the quality of the food (rolls in the low-mid teens, most apps under $10 , and severs are polite. The kitchen isn’t lightning fast, but we didn’t find the wait unreasonable. Based on ratings, I expected “good,” and based on hunger levels and a desire to be out of the rain, I would have settled for “OK.” Little Tokyo, however, ended up being surprisingly great."
