"Grub attempts to be different for all the wrong reasons and why the chain is now reduced to this final few locations. It is a failure as a chain. Update after 7th and Final visit Food made me sick last visit. Do not accept cash forced to use a credit card forced to tip or not tip before you get your food forced to use a public touch screen and put your hands on it before you eat so you are forced to go wash your hands before eating. I hate ordering at this restaurant like really really hate it. Until this last visit I always tipped when I paid but realized this system makes no sense to me had to think about why I hate it. It is a bad system for many reasons that costs the staff money. I will not return to this restaurant but if I did I would tip in cash after the service. My view of tipping is my relationship with the person who waited on me, this system ruins that as I don't know where the money is going. The cashier that pressed a few buttons? What if they screw up your food on purpose because you didn't tip enough? You are forced to do something you don't want to do before you want to do it. I love tipping big for great service to inform the person that did the work they did a great job! Burgers were all prepared exactly as I wanted. The cheese fires are great but it is a two person appetizer so I can't order it anymore it. For reference it ends up being a 22 dollar lunch before tip. Kitchen is hidden in the back. Easy parking open free parking lot almost nobody in the restaurant 50% of the time I am alone or one other person is eating. I time my visit to avoid the crowd always works. Out of 7 visits I had only had one person in front of me in line. Good bye Grub!"

"We’ve been visiting Maria's Sweeties since we moved to Connecticut nearly a decade ago, and the cakes are nothing short of phenomenal. I used to be all about the frosting and filling, thinking of cake merely as the structure holding everything together. However, the cakes at Sweet Maria’s are so moist and flavorful that they stand out on their own and are absolutely worth savoring! As much as we enjoy the taste of the cakes, we're big on celebrations, and we always choose themed birthday cakes (or cakes for any occasion) whenever we can. Diane is a true creative genius! One of my favorite cakes was a pirate-themed creation for my husband’s birthday a few years back. It featured a distant ship, a treasure chest overflowing with gold coins on the beach, two pirates dressed up (who looked suspiciously like PopPop and our granddaughter), and ocean waves adorning the sides. It was nothing short of exquisite! Another standout was a Hairspray-themed cake, which had the birthday girl’s name spelled out in the musical's iconic logo blocks, with huge 60s-style flip hair and cans of hairspray along the sides. The flavors of these cakes are incredible—not overly sweet, making them appealing to adult tastes. The cookies, especially the fabulous biscotti, make perfect hostess gifts or treats for yourself. Recently, they've also added other delightful confections, including chocolate-dipped treats, French macarons (shout out to Kellie!), and beautifully crafted cupcakes and cake in a cup. One of my favorite ways to spend a morning is to relax in the charming little side room of the bakery with a cup of coffee and some delicious treats. If I have the time, I love to catch up with Maria, Kellie, Diane, and the rest of the Sweet Things crew. It's no surprise that when there's a party coming up, my family—spread out across the tri-state area—always asks, "Will you bring the cake?""
