"This place offers only one burger and it is enough because it is the best burger in town. Grass fed beef that melts in your mouth and just the right amount of toppings. The tots are also the best I've had and they make their own bleu cheese dressing for dipping. My friend always gets the wedge salad and it looks fantastic. The staff are really nice. We always eat in the dining area which is comfortable, quiet and mostly have it to ourselves since the bulk of people hang in the bar section or patio. The food and service is consistently excellent."

"Made reservation for 5 about 40 mins beforehand but any reservation is always behind those on waitlist. Helluva uses reservations as a customer capture tool, not as an actual table reservation. Staff cranks up the music volume to try and overcome the customers shouting at each other across the tables. Metal ceiling and concrete floor makes an overall cacophony impossible to converse over. Have visited as group of 2 or 3 very often midweek. Will never attempt again Friday night."

"Our dining experience was delightful! I had the Beets Arugula salad with blackened salmon. It was fresh, and the salmon was cooked perfectly. My husband had a big bowl of very creamy and delicious chicken rigatoni. The service was absolutely wonderful and the manager even sent us over a free dessert. "We came by this place looking for a nice place to eat (with reservations) and it didn’t disappoint. We ordered the drunken prawns as a starter and it was buttery and delicious. I ordered the prime rib and my wife ordered the filet mignon. We both ordered the creamed spinach and the new potatoes. Everything was very good. The creamed spinach reminded me of a really good spinach artichoke dip of sorts. Our waiter Renaud was very nice and attentive. We will definitely come back next time we make it to San Francisco."

"The Birch is one of our favorite go-to stops because the food is always very good, service is friendly and prompt, it 's nearby on the East side. We like the format of small and large plates to share. It 's easy to get variety and share with friends. Shrimp and grits are tops in the area. Very smooth and flavorful. The pork with oatmeal was a little overdone and the oatmeal was a bit to breakfasty for us, but others may appreciate it. Cocktails and marvelous. As are the mocktails, but missing some ingredients for the latter. Finally, the place could do well to get some sound absorbing material to quiet it down a little bit. But overall, very worth the trip and a fun, intimate spot."

"Very mediocre food with a delightful atmosphere. Our appetizer was great (fried Brussels sprouts) and our bread was fantastic with a chocolate butter, but the actual food was bland. It sounded very extravagant on the menu but it was extremely mediocre. I did not enjoy the burger, chicken or fish and would have rather eaten at home. The cake was extremely rich. I cannot stress how rich this cake was as it was at least two steps above a flourless chocolate cake. However, I still enjoyed it. I think a better alternative (if you were to venture to this place) would be to just get drinks and appetizers."

"Looking for a place to go that would have a bar and good food....Found it!!! Sat in the bar that was super crowded but there was a high top table available. Everyone looked like they were having a great time. Ordered our drinks and looked over the menu. Had the wedge and Caesar salad..Really fresh and flavorful ! Appetizer was lobster and shrimp quesadilla which was full of succulent seafood! Next up the L Burger..a burger with short rib and applewood bacon... unbelievable! Finished up with crime brûlée. The Cesar salad was a bit too drenched in dressing but OK. The French Dip was tasteless. The meat has no seasoning, and the Au jus was like colored water with no taste at all. "LOVE this spot. But very disappointed in the food and service this visit. The menu was cut back to a only offering a few items, which seemed odd. Ordered chips and guacamole and the order came with salsa only, no guacamole. The waiter said nothing. When we asked for the guacamole, he said oh the kitchen just told us they are out. So we paid $16 for salsa and chips. 3 people ordered the Chicken sandwich which was the thinnest piece of chicken we have ever seen. Both swordfish and carne asada tacos were flavorless. I hate to write this review as we LOVE Nelson’s and Terranea, but felt this was worth calling out."

"The last time we dined at this restaurant, it was managed by Arcadia Farms, and we didn’t pay much attention to the menu. Now that the Heard has taken over, the menu is much more appealing. I had the special of the day, which was a salad with strawberries, feta, and walnuts drizzled with prickly pear dressing. It was delicious. My friend ordered the Turkey BLT, which she also enjoyed. The service was prompt and satisfactory (though not exceptional), and the staff was friendly. Since the restaurant is located in the courtyard, you can enjoy a meal there without needing to pay for admission to the museum. I would definitely eat here again and recommend it to my friends."

"Totally recommend this place, but make sure to make RSVPs. Our dinner for four people included appetizer of calamari and main entrees of oxtail with coconut rice, baked salmon, and pasta dish. Paintings on the walls are all gorgeous, restaurant owner Alvin is friendly, interactive. Some key areas of improvement: Service staff at times seem to rush diners, taking empty plates and utensils swiftly, and asking far too often if we were finished with our meals. Service staff could be heard bickering in the rear of the restaurant, near the kitchen /restroom area. Additionally, the men's restroom was completely trashed, needed a cleaning."
