"Do NOT get the steak frites it was completely under seasoned (come on, it 's a $56 steak dish). I actually sent it back because the price vs quality didn 't seem right. They made me another plate of steak frites and it was exactly the same which tells me the chef doesn 't know how to cook a proper steak but charges like it. The quality of meat seemed like it was the rejects from Safeway definitely not worth $56. Half of it was fat and gristle so I could only eat half. When asked if the second one was good, I told the waitress the truth and she got defensive and told me well, he let me know that he added salt... . That might be true, but it was still completely bland. I would have sent it back again and choose something else but that was the only dish on the menu I wanted I came specifically for that. I ultimately just asked for some Maldon flake salt so I could season it myself it was just okay. The waitress was also kind of aloof. I 'm sure it was a long hot day but she was unfocused and her defensiveness was not appreciated. At the beginning of our meal, after she took our order, she repeated it back to us completely incorrect and then made a joke that she should write it down. Ya think? She did offer to comp us dessert after everything but we were too full to accept that. I didn 't expect a discount because I kept the steak but if I refused the dessert, I wish they would have done something. For paying about $200 for 2 people (2 cocktails, an appetizer salad, and 2 mains), the food quality and service is absolutely not worth it. I won 't be coming back and can 't recommend this place."

"A Miss! This was our 31st trip to St Barths and we were at this location when the restaurant was called Le Rivage. We tried it after it re opened as Amis about 3 4 years ago. It was not very good overall then. After hearing of the new Chefs we decided to try it again and we’re very excited. This was not worth it. Ordered a smoked bourbon drink that sounded really good. 1 hour later after appetizers were almost finished they asked if we wanted wine. We reminded them of the cocktail we never received. They quickly brought them out in a very unusual glass that you pretty much have to use a straw. We could tell the drink had no smokiness and it was super strong. I do drink old fashioned regularly and this was stronger. Turns out the smoke machine was broken so they used Maker’s Mark instead? They didn’t charge us after asking how we liked it. The starters were really good (Fish Krudo) and decent (Octopus). The main course of Cod was extremely over cooked as was the sea bass. The Dover Sole was good. The people serving were very nice and did try hard but you don’t ignore the cocktail order when you can’t make it as advertised with the Bourbon you say. Also, ask for Wine request when you order your food, not 1 hour later. The restaurant decor and ambience is excellent. I asked the server to tell us about the chef and she said she’d only been there 1 month and he’s a very nice guy. She said he made the menu but it sounded like he wasn’t there to cook it. If you order wine, Krudo fish and Dover sole you will probably have a great experience. This was our 6th dinner on our current trip and by far last place so far (by a large margin)"
