"WOWWW! I found a yakitori place that I’m definitely going to be a consistent customer from now on. What I liked: They take reservations over the phone. 1 Ambiance is great! I liked how each table is separated by glass barriers. They use real candles. You take off your shoes before you entire the table area. Service is a bit slow but very good. I really liked our server. She checked up on us when she could and gave us some great recommendations for skewers and sake! Here’s what I ordered below: AWESOME must order) Cod belly: #1 favorite thing. So tender and flavor is perfectly sweet, salty, and umami Chicken heart Takowasabi $9): soo good! Raw octopus marinated with wasabi. It wasn’t too overwhelming and had the perfect bite. Chicken gizzard If you like drinks, we ordered the 720 mL Tatenowaka Phoenix sake for $85. It was the perfect amount for a group of 4 and was light, fresh, and sweet. GOOD Grilled Onigiri: this is good to eat with the skewers Pork belly PASS: Karaage: it’s like small crispy chicken bits. I’ve had better karaage elsewhere Wagyu $5.50): it doesn’t taste like wagyu to me… wayyy too overcooked and chewy. Not worth the $5.50 per skewer Chicken thigh with wasabi: they put a fat line of wasabi on the chicken. It’s too overpowering! Giving it 4 stars right now because I need to go again to see if service food is consistent. So far, I’m really impressed!"

"Heard Kru from a lot of friends, and glad I finally had the time to try it out!Didn't have any reservations, so I decided to walk in. I came in a little before 5PM. 4PM opens up for bar seating and 5PM is when the dining room (and sushi bar) is open. There is a table at the front next to the bar, which is available for walk in guests as well, but first come first serve. The two of us ordered:-pac man $17: cutest drink, not bad-calicraft pitcher $17: best to get a pitcher if you plan to drink more than one beer! Not a bad hazy.-chutoro carpaccio $22: pretty good dish.-sashimi tapas $30: great sharing dish for two.-salmon skin handroll $8 ea: could go without. Not too much salmon skin, but added tobiko was a nice touch-drake roll $15: ok roll-NGO burger $18: people mentioned the burger was to die for. I thought the burger itself was good. I wasn't a fan of the bun. Way too dense and dry.-beef tsukune $15: tasted like a wagyu meatball. Just ok-duck dumpling $8: MUST order to finish your meal. Delicious dumpling with a great soup after.-sorbet (apricot) $5: nice light dessert to finishWe were seated at the far end of the sushi bar. Huge downside, for whatever reason, there were a ton of flies going around, so I spent a lot of time shooing them away.Shoutout to the staff here. They are quick to clean and serve. Thank to our server Cindy, Justin at the sushi bar, and Faith for helping with the drinks at the bar. There is a small attached lot if you're lucky to get one...otherwise, park along the street or a block down.I'll see you soon Kru!"

"Please do not patronize this restaurant as management has a clear DISREGARD FOR HUMAN LIFE. I went to this restaurant for a friends birthday dinner with reservations at 8. Although our whole party was present we weren't served until 10pm. Upon eating the salad I began to experience an allergic reaction (which is common for me as I am still learning which foods I am allergic to). In an attempt to go to the bathroom upstairs I fainted. When I came to, I was greeted by an angry manager/owner (Asian woman early 30's) who told me I was drunk & needed to "GET OUT NOW." Still dazed and faintish I told her I was having an allergic reaction and needed help. She refused to help me & insisted I was drunk and needed to leave the restaurant. Thankfully, a helpful waitress gave me water as I was then nauseous and unable to walk. The manager then went to my friends and told them they needed to get their "drunk & passed out friend out of here." Knowing I wasn't drunk & my history of allergies, they ran to come help me. The manager seeing this, then changed her tone and told me instead "how about you go see a doctor." This infuriated everyone as I was currently sick & did not need condescending medical advice from a rude restaurant manager. I have never experienced such a lack of concern for human safety. I have NEVER been treated so horribly and rude while sick, or in general. I could have died and I was instead treated with total neglect & disrespect. Please never patronize this establishment which shows such as clear DISREGARD FOR HUMAN LIFE."

The Taste Of Tea

The Taste Of Tea

"We did not enjoy our meal here and, in fact, left with most of it unfinished. The food just felt gross and subpar compared to other similar restaurants. Gyoza: $9 for 6 pieces. Instead of the standard, plumpy shapes, their gyoza were more like chips. Incredibly thin spread of meat inside some wrappers. Tea flight: $15 for the most underwhelming, diluted tea, which is bizzare considering we ordered teas that are known to be full bodied. Gyokuro is a highly prized, shade grown tea that is supposed to coat your mouth with umami. Fukamushi is a deep steamed green tea that should taste smooth, green, and sweet. Kyobancha is a roasted tea that should have warm, cocoa like notes. But, somehow, the tea that we received tasted weaker than Ito en bottled tea. For a place that has tea in its name, the teas offered have very little flavor for what should have been quite favorable teas. Chirashi: this $26 entree had less seafood than a regular $14 poke bowl from elsewhere. The tuna pieces looked and tasted like they were pre sliced and stored in the fridge. The squid was in calamari shape instead of a rectangular slice, which also felt not freshly prepared. The eel pieces were small and tasted like prepackaged eel from 99 ranch. Miso ramen: broth from an instant ramen package has more flavor and mouthfeel than the broth here. It had a strange watery vegetable and ginger taste. The noodles were thick and all break into short pieces. The worst offender was the BBQ pork that was Cantonese style chasiu with pink coloring, and did not taste good either. The whole culinary experience felt odd and inauthentic, in addition to the unappetizing flavors. The merchandise on the wall confirmed my suspension they labeled a Manchu style clothing wine sleeve as kimono. I do want to point out that the staff was incredibly friendly and attentive. But based on the culinary experience, I would avoid this restaurant."
