"As for the food, it was decent. My daughter enjoyed her plain pulled pork sandwich, which she thought was excellent. My other daughter absolutely loved the Yardbird! She couldn't stop raving about how wonderful it was, though she did remove the bacon. The mac and cheese was delicious—very cheesy, with a perfectly browned crust on top that looked like it had just come out of the broiler. It was heavenly!
The brisket, however, was a bit on the dry side, although it had a fantastic char and good flavor. Unfortunately, it was also too fatty for my liking, and not in a good way. We're used to ordering wet brisket from other places, and this was different. Similarly, the pulled pork was quite fatty as well, and I wish I had opted for the dry version because it was swimming in oil. I wasn't a fan of the flavor of whatever sauce was used.
I was disappointed that cornbread wasn't available on the menu, and I hope it makes a return. We usually visit Slows on Michigan Avenue, but we would consider returning to this location for carryout. Overall, it wasn't an outstanding experience, but the food was still pretty good."
