"Incredible disappointment. My daughters asked what meal I’d like for my birthday, and I asked for Chinese from Old Peking in Oakton. I went online and made a list of my choices, my mouth watering, longing for some really good Chinese. Sent the list to my daughters and as soon as the food arrived, I dug in. The idea was a feast that I could enjoy for a week, so many different dishes. I served myself a big platter and joyously dug in, to discover in minutes, I might as well have bought frozen Chinese at the grocery store. The chicken wings were a bit dry, the sauce too thick, and gummy. The Old Peking vegetable lo mein had very few vegetables, the noodles tasted bland, and the vegetables that were there looked limp and old…maybe recycled? Ugh. The sesame chicken was gummy, the chicken tasted off. The crispy lemon chicken was dry, the sauce gelatinous. Awful. The only thing that was fresh and good was one egg roll. I tasted no sesame oil, maybe not even garlic, in any of the dishes. This is boring, routine Chinese food that might get served at a church dinner where no one expects to be troubled by actual flavor. SO DISAPPOINTED! Vegetarian options: Vegetables would not please any vegetarian I know. Limp and seemingly old."
