"Last night, my family and I dined at Musu Sushi in Sea Cliff. This pop-up restaurant is only open on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday evenings. I discovered it in a local newspaper article the day before and was intrigued by its backstory. The Executive Sushi Chef, Roy Kurinawan, had to leave for Japan and ended up extending his stay there. The restaurant decided they would only reopen once he returned, which made me think he must be exceptionally talented for them to wait for him like that. And indeed, the food was fantastic! The sushi selection was incredibly fresh, the fish-to-rice ratio was spot-on, the vinegar flavor in the sushi rice was delicately pronounced, and everything was beautifully presented. They had two sushi specials: seared salmon toro and medium-grade bluefin tuna toro. We ordered both, and they were exquisite! I do have two suggestions for improvement: (1) I wish they served freshly grated wasabi from the root; and (2) I would love to see a cola option among their sugar cane soda choices (I know, I'm that person who enjoys Coke with sushi instead of sake). I'm always searching for exceptional sushi restaurants on Long Island, and I can definitely see Musu becoming one of my favorites."
