"We returned to Love Bites last weekend, only a week since my disappointing experience review below , and things are definitely much better. The steak and eggs were delicious both the steak and the eggs were cooked and seasoned perfectly. The iced coffee is also now back to its original size. We ordered a side of latkes, which are also perfectly seasoned and crispy again. The menu has also grown to about a third from about a fifth of its original variety, and seems to be moving in the right direction. For the price, however, the portions have shrunk since pre Ramsay. The steak and eggs are almost $30, which I would expect for a full dinner of steak and eggs, not a breakfast sized portion. I also hope that the side salads and sides of latkes return as included with the brunch dishes, especially the full plates like the steak and eggs. Otherwise, I 'm glad to see Love Bites starting to regain some of its original sparkle. ____________________ All three times I went with my partner for brunch, and we split dishes each time. I would have given this place 4.5 5 stars the first two times, but give it three stars now, because when we went today it would only get 1. The first two times we split the eggs benedict with pork belly, the steak and eggs, and the sausage and peppers. The first time, we ordered an extra side of sausage and peppers without the bread , and both times we ordered an extra side of latkes because they were so outstanding even my grandmother would have approved, and that 's not an easy feat... The bottomless iced coffee kept us there for almost two hours, and we ordered fruit salad to snack on while we stayed... Bottom line, even though the service and atmosphere weren 't up to Ramsay 's Celebrity Chef standards, they were perfectly fine and what we would have expected from a small town catskills bistro/diner. We just returned to Love Bites today for my birthday, without having heard that Gordon Ramsay had just left three days earlier, which we discovered upon arrival. I should add that not only do I not have a problem with Ramsay 's abrasive style, but I actually have just spent the past month binging his hotel hell and kitchen nightmares. That being said, my partner and I were both really saddened by what he did to Love Bites. While the decor was a slight improvement slight being key , and the service was marginally improved somewhat more friendly and welcoming, though significantly less attentive, perhaps because far busier , the menu options, portions, variety, and overall food quality most importantly were entirely incomparable. The eggs benedict with pork belly was no longer on the menu, having been replaced by bacon, salmon, or brisket options. We ordered the bacon option, and it was awful. The bacon was burnt, the egg was overcooked, the english muffin was so rubbery it couldn 't be cut, and the latkes were so salty they were inedible. The huevos rancheros tasted ok, though they gave off an unfortunate odor that I don 't want to describe, and there was no side salad, as there had been for all their previous entrees. The iced coffee now comes in a glass half the size it used to, and the menu options have been reduced by about 80%. The hostess and wait staff promised that they would be returning to their original menu in the coming week s , and were only doing this as an experiment, so we will certainly give this place another chance when we return to Saugerties in the next couple weeks. But more than anything, this has made me see Gordon Ramsay in a new light. He single handedly came in and sabotaged this gem. It 's really sad, and I think he needs to take the responsibility that he is consistently and unashamedly demanding that restaurant owners and workers take. His drive by approach to restaurant rehabilitation is clearly window dressing for a shallow, self interested, and ineffective approach to culinary and cultural depth. I will give Love Bites another chance, but not Gordon Ramsay."
