"My dad and brother were in town and I was in charge of making dinner reservations, and ocean prime had availability at 7, so I though why not! I usually only go for the tuna tartare and tonight was my first time having a full dinner service and I can honestly say it will be my last! It was just a bad experience overall as someone in the industry I can honestly say they need to do some reevaluations on service. The tuna was a hit per usual but everything else was awful. For the amount of money spent I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone. Steven was professional I guess but like my dad said everything started off shaky both figuratively and literally! Our table was BEYOND wobbly (videoed), wait time for entrees was long then once we received our food the steak was undercooked which normally isn’t that big of deal because you can cook it more but there were already enough negatives that at this point we just wanted to leave. Also for it to be a wagyu strip it looked more like a bone in filet, so that was questionable. The sides, creamed spinach and mushrooms, were salty, which the manager said she had received some complaints about from other tables with the cream spinach, so why as a chef continue to serve it without making adjustments? If anything some of that salt should have been put in my risotto and on my sea bass. And the only concessions made were taking care of the salty sides. As someone in the industry I’m usually pretty tolerant of things so for me to write this means it’s was an inexcusably bad experience. I would love to speak with management if need be or just work on figuring how to WIN your guest back in moments like we experienced. Sometimes you have to take responsibility for dropping the ball in every aspect. I won’t say I’ll never be back because the tuna is great and I can sit at the bar and enjoy it but I’ll never suggest it for dinner again."

"I will start off by saying I have eaten here before and had a good experience which is why I decided to take my family here for a nice dinner they aren’t ones for “upscale” restaurants. My father and I ordered the dry aged ribeye medium rare. The lady GM (Ray I think her name was she had dark hair) dropped off my fathers steak which had a hair sticking out which was almost masked in the overly charred steak both he and I received. I walked to the host stand and brought it to her attention and she apologized and had his steak redone and I also expressed my steak was overly medium and hard as a rock. The steaks were both remade and another manager dropped off my fathers steak asked him to cut into it and it came back medium rare slightly over charred, but mine came back just as bad as the first time and the same manager dropped off my steak then says “you can cut into it if you’d like or not” as if it was our fault they couldn’t cook a proper medium rare steak. I took one bite of the steak as the rest of my family had already finished eating and started to choke. I got up and headed to the restroom and I was walking to the restroom I threw up in my hands and the “manager” who dropped the food off walked past me didn’t ask if I was ok or if she could help with anything and acted as if I want even there. I proceeded to throw up in the restroom and our server checked on me the whole time and made sure everything was fine. The GM never came back to the table to check on us as she was the one who took my fathers plate. For a restaurant of this scale this service was unacceptable"

"My wife and I have enjoyed dining at the Jolly Onion for many years. We generally dine on weekdays. The German inspired food is always good quality, well prepared. This review is not about the food- it is about the service or lack thereof. We were a party of six, four adults and five and three year old on a Sunday. One of the nice things about the Jolly Onion is that it is the kid friendly. The place was more than half full and very noisy, it has the acoustics of a gym. We were seated and waited about ten minutes for our server to take our drink order. The drinks came and our orders were taken. Approximately 30 minutes later no food and no server. Finally I was able to gain her attention. I asked the status of our order the server left and returned very apologetic saying their wifi was down that is how kitchen received orders. The server said she would put the in with a rush. 30 minutes later no food. Finally food. Server still very apologetic offers free desserts. Happily accepted. Meanwhile the children had reached the limit of good behavior and are racing around our table. We were grateful that by now the restaurant had mostly emptied. Ok dessert are now ordered two came out ten minutes later another then five minutes the last. Meanwhile our completed dishes were left on the table with no one to take them away. The busboys who delivered our orders seemed to lack any concern about removing them and ignored a request for ketchup. Below the body of this review is the question whether to recommend this restaurant the answer is yes with this caveat beware the service can be awful."
