"The Salt Creek Grille is a lovely restaurant, tucked away on the west side of the Monarch Bay Plaza but still easy to find. The décor has an elegant craftsman style to it with both indoor and outdoor seating. My wife and I went on a Saturday a little after 4:00 p.m. We were seated right away even though we did not have a reservation. Our server was very friendly and helpful since we haven?t been to this place many times. We started with a Huckleberry Lemonade which was very refreshing and not too strong. Next, we ordered the Bacon Wrapped Shrimp, and the prawns were very large with the bacon having some chew to it. The honey chipotle sauce that came with it added a bit of tangy sweetness to the salty bacon and the bit of spicy horseradish that was stuffed into the shrimp. We also had the Caesar Over Mesquite, which is a wedge of grilled romaine with asiago. The sweet, smoky taste of the mesquite carries through on every bite and it is a unique dish I highly recommend. For the main course we had the Coffee-Encrusted NY cooked medium rare that came with seasonal vegetables and mashed potatoes. The steak was just delicious. The coffee crust added an extra taste of bitter, combined with slightly creamy, sourness of blue cheese. The seasonal vegetables were not overcooked but didn?t really add much to the plate. The only weak player on the plate was the mashed potatoes, which were dense and a little dry, with no mentionable flavor on its own. Next time, I may need to ask for a little gravy on the side. Last item was desert, which we had the Blueberry Cheesecake with a reduced seasonal fruit glaze. It was light for a cheesecake but sweet and enjoyable. Overall, this was a very nice meal and I hope to return soon."

"Well I want to start off by saying I really had hi hopes for this place its about a 15 min ride from my home and even closer to my office. I looked at the menu and the mixed reviews but I was willing to roll the dice. We arrived it was sunday night at 8:15 you enter from the side threw threw the bar. The bar look like someones basement bar no one there to greet us and had to ask the bartender where the dinning room was. It was over there he said after making it across the bar we found the dinning room and where greeted by the bus boy we asked if they where open for dinner still he said yes and showed us to a table next to a pole mind you no one is in this place he picks the table with the pole. He handed us menus asked us if we wanted anything to drink we said we wanted to order and asked for the waiter and low and behold he was the waiter too. So the menu looked good lots off starters the steak where priced 40 dollars for a 16oz they had a tomahawk 35oz 75 dollars and porterhouse 40oz for 85 dollars no big deal that what I was looking for. My wife ordered the lobster soup with chunks of lobster had little bits of lobster watery YUK she also order skirt steak salad vary greek dinner NO GOOD.My son order the Skirt Steak it was vary good as well the french fries vary good. I orders the 16oz bone in rib eye well let me tell you friend the bus boy waiter put the steak in front of me and it look me a min to get over the shock, you know when you go to store and your shopping for meet and your looking for 4 steaks and there is always one that SUCKs but you have to buy it cus thats all they have and you end up giving it to your youngest kid. THAT WAS MY STEAK... THE SUCK ASS KID STEAK with a sliver of a bone you can get this steak at DeCicco's on sale for 9.95 a lbs any day and trust me the DeCicco's Steak 1000 times better. The waiter walked away I was a bit put back i tasted the steak frankly it was cooked on a low heat grill no char so poorly done i felt bad for them how can anyone allow this to happen and put this on a table. I called the waiter over and asked him if this is the normal ribeye and is this a real 40 dollar steak I told him that this was no way to present a steak I asked for the manager and shockingly there was no manager and I asked who was in charger well the bartender was running the place I told the waiter he can go get some one to talk about this or he can take the steak home with him. He said he was sorry and understand what I'm talking about and said the best he can do is comp the steak I could tell he felt bad and was doing his best. I went in looking to have a KICK ASS STEAK but I left wanting to kick the person that made it in the ass. I can only say HOW CAN YOU ALLOW THAT TO HAPPEN I looked in the back and saw how they make the Steak well to make a good steak you need HEAT the place has no Heat if your looking for a GOOD STEAK ITS NOT HERE. I take my son out for steak all the time we have been to most the spot around town and it a normal thing for us to drop 100 bucks on a steak for two he's a great kid home from collage and I love the time we spend together and that one of the things we like to do. If you want a GREAT STEAK get on 684 and head to danbury and go to MAXs 40 bring someone you love and have the 40oz porterhouse. THATS HOW UN HAPPY I WAS I WOULD TELL YOUR CUSTOMERS WHERE TO GET A GOOD STEAK. HERE'S THE LAST BIT OF THE STORY... THE BILL COMES AND THE COMPS STEAK BECAME A 20 DOLLAR STEAK I WOULD HAVE SENT IT BACK AND EAT MY FRENCH FRIES........................................................... 20 BUCKS LIKE AT A DINNER STEAK so if you like dinner food this is the spot for you if you want a good steak get back in your car....... My advice to the owner READ YOUR REVIEWS THERE TRUE AND FIX THE PLACE IM DONE"

"We meet our friends here from time to time. We have watched this restaurant go from large portions and friendly service to small portions and hidden costs and rude waitress service. I asked for a side of jalapeño's was not made aware that there was an extra charge and no where on the menu did not say there was a charge and the waitress Jacqueline didn't make us aware of the extra charge upon ordering. I was also charged extra for barbeque sauce. I ordered a chicken sandwich why would I think there would be a charge its a standard condiment for a chicken sandwich. I had a glass of wine and was astonished how small the glass was. I asked the waitress if this was a standard size wine glass and how much it was . Jacqueline replied yes it's standard and it's 4.00. She offered to take it back. I said I would drink it and pay for it. When the food came it was split between me and my husband we each got 3 small to mid size onion rings and way more bun than chicken. We didn't want them to split it I think that should of been up to us. My husband eats more than me so he would have wanted more we ended up re spitting it ourselves. Jacqueline never came back so I could get a ice water. I had to go to the bar and ask for a ice water. Service was rude portions are small and charged for hidden costs. We have been eating her for the past 6 years and it has gone down hill fast! Won't make the trip again."
