"Cedar Chest features a pleasant outdoor patio with seating for about six tables, offering a view of the lake. In our experience, the food tends to be bland or overcooked. We sampled the ribs, broasted chicken, and grilled walleye (which had a chemical taste due to the Parmesan seasoning, so I recommend skipping it), along with several sandwiches, including burgers. Most dishes are either under-seasoned or overcooked (like the ribs). The burgers, however, seem to be their standout item, though the fries are just average in flavor. The beers are served cool, not cold. The waitstaff consistently work hard to meet our needs. Unfortunately, the house manager—an older woman—can dampen the experience; during busy times, she struggles with stress and can be quite sharp and rude towards customers. In summary, the outdoor atmosphere is enjoyable, and the waitstaff is dedicated. If possible, it may be best to avoid the older female manager. The food is typical bar fare, with some dishes being decent while others miss the mark."
