"The ambiance was good overall. It was something different, so I’d say the ambiance made up for the lackluster food. Thus, once the novelty wears off, I am not sure if I would go back for a full meal. I would probably go back- if I ever- it would be with a big group to enjoy a couple of beers with small plates during the Happy Hour. The small plates are fun to try and affordable. However, the biggest disappointment was a main dish, poke bowl. I have eaten a great number of poke bowls from a variety of places including some European countries, but I never had poke bowl with such undercooked rice. I am an Asian who makes rice everyday and knows what is good rice or not. I am normally ok with most sushi rices as long as it is cooked right. It was so undercooked that It hurt my teeth to chew. My husband who eats anything without much complaint agreed that it was hard to chew. Therefore, we both picked at only the fish pieces and left the rice. The fish was pretty good. All the ingredients in the bowl were great. However, the flavor was too subtle and overall too dry, I had to ask a bit more ponzu and sesame oil. Overall, we enjoyed our night out but I don’t think we will go back there for a poke bowl. We will continue to go to poke bros for a cheaper version of it- although the amount pole bros serves is less, it is perfect amount for me. But Drinking sake in a wooden box was a fun experience!"

"Me and my husband visited Pink Basil yesterday after a short stroll through Olde Mistick Village. The menu was varied and interesting and we had a hard time choosing what to order since it all sounded so good. We ended up getting two appetizers, the curry puffs and pork dumplings. The curry puffs were absolutely delicious and I only wish there were more because I wanted to keep eating them! The sweet and tangy sauce that comes with it adds a great dimension to the flavor. They were flakey and well filled. The dumplings were huge, very caramelized on the bottoms and the dumpling sauce was savory and delicious. For entrees, we went with something similar, the Beef Hor Fun Noodles and the Pink Basil Noodles (with beef). The noodles were perfectly chewy for both dishes and the Hor Fun Noodles we're savory and flavorful while the Pink Basil Noodles were a great combination of savory and sweet with plenty of fresh veggies. The beef itself isn't too chewy, has great caramelization and paired well with the noodles and sauce. The portion sizes were large for the entrees, and we were offered a spice level of 1-4, I believe and I got the Hor Fun in a 1 and my husband got a 2 for his Pink Basil Noodles. The level 1 spice is perfect if you want next to no spice or do not enjoy spice. Level 2 was perfect and what I would choose in the future, as it's a nice building spice that isn't too harsh. Spice lovers will want to go for 3-4! We also got the Thai iced tea and mango bubble slushy drink. Both were phenomenal with delicious flavor and very ripe mango flavor for the slushy drink. The service was great, and we got there right as they opened so we got a good seat. The ambiance and decorations were gorgeous, with flowers everywhere. The building is fairly small and was full for lunch after we got there. I would recommend checking in to see if reservations are available or nessessary during the busy hours to guarantee a seat and I would strongly recommend it if you have a large party. We look forward to returning to Pink Basil in the future to try more of their selection of dishes and I would recommend this restaurant to anyone."

"AVOID THIS PLACE IF I COULD GIVE ZERO STARS, I WOULD.I decided on some Thai food after work last Sunday so, I figured on giving this restaurant a try.I liked the atmosphere, and saw that people were socially distanced so, I figured that I was going to enjoy my meal (their Chicken Lime Light). Unfortunately, my food was being served to me by someone who wore their mask down over their nose. He also thought nothing of talking to me with his mask down.Because I have immuno-compromised persons in my life, I requested a replacement. While I try to avoid covid deniers, and people who don't take the disease seriously on the streets, I think that restaurant staff should be taking covid (and its safety measures) seriously, when serving food and drink to their customers who should be able to dine in a safe environment.Considering that there is a statewide requirement for indoor establishments (like restaurants) to follow safety guidelines, I explained to the bartender that while I _didn't_ want to get anyone in trouble I imagine that I would be within my rights to report them.I then noticed that my drink had a weird consistency (shown below). When I brought it up to the bartender, I was told that she thought that it was alright, and that I should just continue drinking it *gag* at no point was a replacement offered.Once I realized that this was going to be my experience for the remainder of my time there, I paid up, and left my food uneaten: given the lackadaisical service, I wouldn't put it past them to serve me the same food, and state that it was remade Before I left, I thought to take pictures of my ordered items (as I didn't think that people would believe my experience with this place). When the bartender realized what I was doing, she rushed to my table, and attempted to take the items out of my hands while I was still taking pictures. This forced me to tell her to release the me, and the items, as I purchased them, and wasn't finished.I tried to speak to a manager, to discuss my experience. However, during my initial visit or the subsequent time afterwards, I was told that the manager wasn't available they didn't know when they would be available, and was offered to leave my number. Unsurprisingly, at no time did I receive a call from said manager. So, I'm posting about my experience now. I will also be posting about this experience on as many other sites as I can think of.Overall, my experience there was horrible; if I could give this place zero stars, I would. I recommend that people avoid this place."

"+Update: Thank you Rai Rai for taking the time to respond to my review. When I asked about the additional charge later 'in person ', the staff member did not provide any explanation, maybe because they were busy at preparation to close the restaurant? and the menu did not specify the extra cost when I saw the menu, I added the pictures. So, Yes, it 's my fault that I didn 't look at the menu thoroughly. Since you explained, I understood well why you charged that. However, regardless of the extra charge, I mentioned the sauce wasn 't that good because it made the ramen oilier and it wasn 't spicy. This is my point that I felt uncomfortable with paying for the little sauce. Then, is it clear for you to understand what I addressed? (I hope so)As you know, it can be difficult to satisfy all customers, and as a customer, I believe it is important to share my personal experience at your restaurant, both positive and negative.I would like to clarify that my review was not intended to be mean or rude. This is my honest experience. This review section allows me to express my opinions and share my experience with others, which can be helpful for future customers. It means some people will have a nice experience at your restaurant regardless of my experience. And I just modified my review to look like more reasonable. I ordered Mabo. The taste of the ramen was just average, not special. Mabo that I ordered was nothing special. it only had ground pork and a small amount of tofu. That was it.This is my first experience to have Mabo. But wasn 't that great to me. I opted for the spicy option since it did not mention any extra charge. However, I was surprised to find out that they charged $2 for a very small amount of crunch sauce. But the sauce wasn 't spicy, rather made my ramen oilier.Overall, it was a not bad not good experience to me."
