"Count your change, shaddy Bartender. Last night (Sat. I went to The Bowery Electric for an event. The event space downstairs wasn’t ready yet. The man who greeted me at the door was polite friendly. He stamped my wrist said grab a drink at the bar, it’s Happy Hour. At the bar I ordered “Whiskey-ginger”. When the bartender brought me my drink I asked how much, he said “$11, $12 with tax”. Puzzled, I asked “Is that Happy Hour price?”. The bartender looked at me and said “Yes.” And stood waited as I went into my purse to get out more money. I paid tipped and took my drink. Something just didn’t seem right to me. I went to the front door, looked outside and the sandwich board advertising Happy Hour for The Bowery Electric, clearly says well drinks $8. I went back to the bartender and told him that the sign out front said Happy Hour mix drinks are $8 and you charged me $12. He looks at me and says, “I gave you Jameson”. And I said, “I did not ask for Jameson. It’s happy hour and I ordered just whiskey-ginger”. “Okay”. The bartender turns around and hands me $3. I say, “Happy Hour is $8”. He says, “$8 plus tax, $9. You have a good night”. Lets unpack all of this. It is Happy Hour time at the bar, you Know that is what people are ordering, that is why bars have Happy Hour prices. When I asked regarding the $12, is that Happy Hour, he said Yes and did not say anything regarding Jameson. When I returned, quoting the price listed on the sign outside, only then did he say, “I gave you Jameson”. He gave me, he did not say this is what I ordered, he gave me something I did not ask for. Next, tax on $11 $8, both, is $1. Last, no apology just a snarky “You have a good night.” The Bowery Electric. Cool looking bar, nice space downstairs for events. Front door guy, friendly inviting. The Bartender, CAN NOT BE TRUSTED !!!"

"thanks for a great meal. This is a very cozy restaurant. I mean that in a positive way. The temperature, lighting and din of diners were inviting and welcoming. They had front and rear eating areas both nice. The tables and chairs were not uncomfortable and separated nicely. The noise was a little loud but maybe that's because we sat next to the bar. The service was perfectly attentive and helpful. We started with the warm antipasto. Baked claims were delicious. A little smallish but had a perfect amount of breadcrumbs and seasoned splendidly. The rice balls were so tender and mixed with delicious cheese. The shrimps were smallish but not disappointingly so. They too were delicious The calamari...there were no tentacles which to me is normally the sin qua non of pork anus being clandestinely used as a substitute for the calamari. Not here. The calamari was delicious! Lightly breaded and cooked perfectly. For my main meal, I asked for them to make me veal parmigiana. They obliged; and I was in heaven. The veal was tender and perfectly hugged by a toothsome crust. It was coated with some wonderful mozzarella cheese and baked marvelously until piping hot. So, there are no free lunches and the issue here was it was a very small portion two 3 inch medallions. I'm in a diet so was in mirthful glee because the small potion prevented me from over eating, but in all fairness...for an average diner with an above average appetite, consider a couple of appetizers or sides because there is a chance you might otherwise be less than satiated. BTW, pasta was a small portion too seemed like about a cup of food maybe one and a half. I was told the cannolis were delicious a perfect crisp shell and homemade cream! I am coming back. No doubt. The food was sooo good and the atmosphere and service amazing. As noted, I might get a salad course *and*appetizer course as well as a side *in addition to* the one that comes with the meal."

"TLDR: charming Italian restaurant in Pasadena, farm to table, pricey considering the small portions, homemade pasta, must try: charred octopus and polenta w/ mushrooms, easy affordable parking Schoolhouse Garage $1/hour for 1st 2 hours), online reservations available I recently had my first experience at Union, the Italian restaurant in Pasadena, and it lived up to the wonderful reviews I've heard. It's definitely a popular spot, so I'd recommend making a reservation to avoid any lengthy waits. My reservation was on a Saturday evening at 4:15 PM. The restaurant's ambiance is quite lovely, with an intimate atmosphere. However, it's on the dim side, and I personally wouldn't have minded a bit more lighting. For those wondering about parking, the Schoolhouse Parking structure has two entrances, one on Green Street and the other on Raymond. The best part is the affordability just $1 per hour for the first 2 hours. So, parking is one less thing to worry about. Union is known for its farm to table approach and commitment to making its pasta in house. One unique aspect is that they take your entire order all at once. This means that you won't be able to order additional dishes later on due to the constraints of their small kitchen, except for dessert. My party of two decided to go all in and ordered four dishes to share. Here's the rundown: 1. Charred Octopus: It was a tasty choice, but a tad on the salty side. The salad at the bottom provided a perfect balance with chickpeas, mint, tomatoes, and cucumber. If you're a fan of octopus, this is a safe bet, although the texture was a touch chewy, which I didn't mind. 2. Polenta with Wild Mushrooms: This dish was a real standout. The tanginess of the vinaigrette, with a hint of truffle flavor, was absolutely delicious. The mushrooms were a highlight as well. 3. Bucatini: Cooked to a perfect al dente, the pesto, made with pistachios, was a pleasant surprise. The creamy burrata complemented it nicely. A pro tip: Add a squeeze of lemon for a zesty twist. 4. Torchetti: This dish had a little spicy kick to it. Some pieces of pasta were al dente, while others were slightly hard, but the flavor more than made up for it. NOTABLE FAVES All the dishes were in relatively small portions, but the beauty of it was that everything was shareable, allowing us to try a bit of everything. It's certainly worth a visit, especially if you appreciate farm to table cuisine and house made pasta. Just be sure to make that reservation to secure your spot."

"Renegade Coffee was delicious to drink but their customers service really brings down my rating.I found Renegade Coffee one morning and ordered a protein smoothie, Indian Fog, and a burrito from SpotOn. The app let me know that it would be about 20 minutes. When I got to the shop, I waited about 15 minutes because I understand those app wait times can be off. I walked over to the right side of the bar where I was blatantly ignored. The girl wouldnt make eye contact and angled her body away from me. After a few moments of waiting, I just asked where the togo orders were. She pointed to the other side of the bar. As more people came in and picked up their food, I finally go over to the togo area on the left side of the bar. Yet again, I was ignored twice by girls who were making other togo orders. Again, they did not make eye contact and would angle their bodies away from me. Eventually the person working the register took pity on me and asked if I was okay. I told them that I placed a togo order 45 minutes ago. At which time, I found out that no one had made my drinks. So I had to wait another 15 minutes before getting my drinks. Finally, I am handed my drinks and I find out that my breakfast burrito had been sitting for almost an hour. I didnt have time to wait even longer for them to make me a new burrito so I left. When I did finally get to eat the burrito was cold and the tortilla was mushy. As you can tell, it was really a disappointing experience.I will say that the protein smoothie and the Indian Fog were pretty good which is why it is 3 stars but the drinks alone arent worth returning for."
