"We have been enjoying sandwiches from this restaurant for over 30 years, ever since the original owner opened it where Hawk's Subs is now located. The Hauxhurst Family later built a brick structure to replace the old wooden one along Highway #35, which used to be Lou's Subs, a favorite spot for a good sub sandwich in the 1970s. During our recent visit to the West Park Avenue, Ocean Township location, it was the first time we had been there since April 2019 when Ralph and his brother still ran the place. The new owners have been operating it for over 2 years after purchasing it from Ralph, who moved to the Carolinas. They have kept the same name and menu. During our visit, Kit had a Garden Salad with Egg Salad and Balsamic Salad Dressing, while I had the Clubhouse Sub Special. The sandwich was just as delicious as when Ralph and his brother made it, and Kit thoroughly enjoyed her salad. This new owner has continued the tradition of making delicious subs and salads, carrying on the legacy from Lou's to their business, now in its fourth iteration."
