"We've passed by this place countless times, but since they close at 3 PM on most days, we rarely get the chance to stop by. On Thursdays, however, they're open until 8, so we decided to give it a try today. My husband and I both ordered the meat and two sides for $8.25. He chose meatloaf with turnip greens, macaroni and cheese, and cornbread, while I opted for chicken livers, fried green tomatoes, Watergate salad, and a roll. He enjoyed everything he ordered and would definitely like to come back, which is a huge compliment from him! The chicken livers were the best I've ever tasted—perfectly breaded and seasoned, not overcooked, and almost creamy on the inside. I loved my fried green tomatoes as well; they were firm on the edges but soft in the center (I can’t stand it when they’re hard). The sweetness of the Watergate salad was the perfect way to finish my meal. The sweet tea was just right too. As for the service, it was great—our waitress was friendly and attentive, and the cashier was nice as well."
