"No Apologies. Had seen this restaurant many times right next door to the Homewood suites by Richmond airport. I travel extensively and stay at the Homewood suites often. My family of us) decided to have an early dinner there. It was about four in the afternoon and we were probably of groups (dead time in dining). We submitted three dinner orders, and although the waiter seemed to be put out to wait on us, I did have to repeat a detail of my order and therefore was sure he wrote it down. After quite a bit of time, of the orders came to the table; mine was missing (delivered by someone other than our waiter). The young lady stated she would be right back. Our waiter never checked on us, never refilled our drinks, never apologized for the wait.It was obvious he had either not entered my order or the kitchen had not prepared it with the others, as I waited for over min.for my food. This was after someone in management was made aware of the snafu. NO ONE ever apologized. We only saw the waiter again after we asked for our bill. The food was good, moderately priced, but nothing I could not make at home and deliver to the table on time. At the most, our bill should have been comped my meal for the ultra long wait. At the minimum, I would have accepted a sincere apology. We received neither. Therefore, my curiosity of the restaurant across the parking lot has been satisfied and I will NOT be returning."

"I've been to El Rancho twice now and it's safe to say that it's in my top 2 Peruvian chicken joints. I stopped by during a cold and gloomy afternoon and this was the perfect meal to warm me up. I ordered two 1/2 chickens with plantains and yuca. These orders came with one yellow, green, and orange sauce each, so I got double of each sauce since I had two orders. The yellow and green sauces tasted like every other restaurant which is great because I love them! The orange sauce was something new for me. It was a tiny bit spicy but great with the chicken. The chicken itself was super moist and piping hot and the sides were super filling. The first time that I got the yuca, it was pretty dry. However, this time around it was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. I'm glad I gave it another try! The plantains were great as always. I usually like mine a little crispy on the edges but the ones they gave me weren't too browned. I just ended up stealing some from my friend who ended up getting 2 sides of perfect plantains. I'm usually okay with a 1/4 dark but the meat was so tender and juicy that I ended up finishing a 1/2 all by myself! The food was definitely was a 5/5! It was a little difficult to order because of the language barrier, but we ended up working out what I was trying to order. This didn't contribute to my 4 star review just wanted to include this to give a heads up to any future customers! The main reason why I changed my rating to a 4 is because of the wait time. After ordering, it took almost 30 minutes for me to get my order. Usually when I get peruvian chicken I get my order really soon after I order so I was surprised that with no line it took so long. This could be because they were waiting on items to cook, but 30 minutes is a while to wait for a to go order. I'll definitely hit up El Rancho the next time I'm in Springfield!"

"Last weekend, my family and I went to dinner at this restaurant. We have always enjoyed coming here since it opened. The staff has always been friendly, and the food and margaritas have always been amazing. However, we had a terrible experience with the management last weekend. His name was Jose. My fiancée and I each ordered a margarita. Mine was great, but his tasted off. He asked our server if he could get another one because it didn't taste good. The second one arrived and it also tasted bad, so he didn't drink either. We mentioned it to our server, who said it was fine and took it off the bill. When we were ready to leave, the margaritas were still on the bill. The manager, Jose, came over and asked what he could do for us. I explained the situation with the margaritas, and he said it was company policy that he could only remove one. I asked him if he would want to pay for something he didn't drink, and he couldn't show me where this policy was written. I have worked in the restaurant industry for over 15 years, and I found his attitude to be disrespectful. Our bill was over $100, and he was so insistent on charging us for a $9 drink we didn't even consume. Jose was the worst manager I have ever encountered, and because of him and how he treated us, we will not be returning to this restaurant. Our server was great, and we still tipped her 25% despite the bad experience. It's a shame that a restaurant with great potential is managed so poorly. It was not about the money; it was about the principle of being charged for something we didn't drink."
