"First, I want to emphasize that this is not meant to criticize the restaurant harshly. Constructive feedback is essential for their success and should be welcomed. Here’s my straightforward take:
1. The cabbage appetizer was outstanding—perfectly cooked and seasoned, with a sauce that complemented the cabbage and pork beautifully. However, the appetizer shouldn’t outshine the main courses.
2. The drinks were excellent.
3. The service was exceptional.
4. The grilled scallops, unfortunately, were overcooked. The char from the grill was so strong it overwhelmed the dish, giving it an intense campfire flavor. Given the price, the portion size was disappointing. Similarly, the oxtail dish was tasty but also lacked sufficient portion size. We left hungry enough to stop and buy food on the way home.
When I read the restaurant’s description, I expected a comforting, home-cooked meal inspired by childhood flavors. Instead, the meal felt more like a tasting experience. If this were a multi-course menu, smaller portions might make sense, but when an entrée is called “Big Ole,” it sets the expectation of a hearty, filling meal.
I sincerely hope the management and owners take this feedback to heart, ensuring that the portions and dishes align with the promises made in the menu descriptions."
